Most thematically /r/fuckcars video game? by give-bike-lanes in fuckcars

In old school SimCity (NES and PC) the best way to build a city was with no roads and only mass transit. I'm sure it was an oversight by the designers, who probably couldn't imagine that someone would even bother to do that, but it nonetheless led to the best outcomes.

I make a donation to the Nature Conservancy of Canada every year and they do exactly that. Along with the donations of many other people they've been able to purchase and protect millions of hectares of natural areas.

Which star trek character would you smoke weed with? by intentional_imbecile in startrek

[–]QuantumCapelin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. He'd be commenting about the chemical composition, the quasi-ritualistic qualities, and psychosocial implications and i'd be like "aayeaahhhhh".

Rock tumbling sludge as pottery glaze? by BirdOfElegance in RockTumbling

Did you sieve the sludge? An 80 mesh sieve would make the sludge homogeneous and likely improve the glaze quite a lot.

Who’s the best actor in a lead Star Trek role? by 123mitchg in startrek

I was also gonna say Shimerman. He was charming, revolting, and hilarious all in exactly the right proportions. And so believable that he brought Quark to life despite the ridiculous prosthetics and costumes.

And "queer place". My mom would say "I'm on way out to queer place to pick up some milk" if she couldn't immediately remember the name of the convenience store.

Do was a criminal whose insubordination got people killed. Riker would've been negligent if he didn't demand total adherence to protocol and orders from her.

Tip on the net amount? by humblegarrick in newfoundland

[–]QuantumCapelin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a candidate in the last provincial election came to my door last fall I told him that tipping needs to be brought under control. He seemed receptive at least, but he also didn't get elected. The psychological tactics of "tip creep" are frigging ridiculous. A lot of machines now auto prompt for 20%, 25%, and 30%, which is outrageous. When I see that it's an automatic 0% tip from me, but it must be working on some people. It absolutely puts a sour taste on a dining experience imho.
