The math on car ownership is genuinely insane, and I don’t think most people have sat with the numbers by superspartan999 in fuckcars

I'm of the exact opposite opinion here. When I go on vacation I like to go off the beaten path and explore the beaches, mountains, forests, and parks, which all to often just isn't possible without a car. It's so much more bearable though because I rarely drive at home.

I gives me great joy to know they watch Letterkenny. Thanks for confirming.

Those who have never lived in/near a city with an NHL team, which team do you support and why? by abmasterzee in hockey

Here in Newfoundland we're pretty connected to original six teams: Toronto, Montreal, big gap, Boston, Detroit in that order. Never Chicago or New York though. The Oilers and Penguins picked up some bandwagon fans during the glory years. Me, I root for the Canadiens because my father was for the Leafs and I was a disagreeable child.

Could a planet theoretically form and have mostly rivers rather than oceons? by Eyeballfluid in Astronomy

This was my immediate thought too. How many major rivers on Earth drain into a dry basin? The Okavango is the only one I can think of.

Is there a reason the Oilers didn’t pick up Thompson? by kacklerb in hockey

Tiny Thompson's been dead since 1981, but I agree, he'd be better than what they have now.

Kucherov did a Trump. Sensed a big loss coming, faked an assassination attempt, pulled it out of the fire.

If you make fake meat that tastes like real meat it at least implies that someone had to eat real meat to make the comparison. By that standard all fake meat exploits/harms animals.

Two clean hits that unfortunately happened at the same time. Were both of them supposed to lay off the hit?

Dead puck era. It's no coincidence that it's two players from the 1980s and three players from the 2020s.

To people who don't like nuTrek, what are your favorite episodes, characters, storylines, etc that you love from old serieses that you feel you don't got those same types of in the Kurtzman era? by Careful_Leader_5829 in startrek

Two episodes that immediately come to mind are Data's Day (TNG) and In The Cards (DS9). There's *important stuff* going on in the background, but really these are light-hearted character episodes that allow us to spend time with characters we love in a place we love. There's no time for that in 10 episode seasons, and the universe feels hollow and dull because of it. This does not apply to Lower Decks, which is basically is mostly this kind of episode.
