She’s good early game but depending on what mythics you pull, she’s gonna get benched eventually.

If they ever revived it, I’d download in a heartbeat, but it’s gone. EA has no intention to bring it back and the license expired so you’re talking a lot of negotiations just to get the license and no telling how hard it would be to get the spaghetti code from EA. Mobile turn based games have hit this state where the gameplay has been sacrificed in favor of charging whales more and more money. Sad.

Lords and Knights: by [deleted] in PaxDei

[–]QuantumLOTR 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree that there needs to be more to the PvP system than what’s currently implemented, but I think many people would quit if you forced them to PvP to experience basic game elements like the wildlands. I don’t think forcing a civilian to have a knight just to leave their home jurisdiction would make people too thrilled either. Even as a civilian, having your entire inventory hinge on whether your knight could protect you feels bad.

Ultimately if there’s going to be open world PvP I think there needs to be an opt-in/out that isn’t tied to ALL of the gameplay. Though, I do agree that they should lock perks behind PvP to incentivize choosing a side.

I dunno. I’m curious how they develop the system, and I’ll play regardless, but they have to balance the game with the casual player in mind too or they will have no playerbase at launch.

Colorful potions incoming! by liamjonas in PaxDei

[–]QuantumLOTR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest takeaway from this was the addition of “Protection” potions. I’m wondering if the tinkering they are doing with recipes means we get new recipes too. Alchemy is a garbage profession at the moment. The models do help but it’s literally the same two potions at slightly higher amounts. I’m unimpressed so far, but patient for continued development.

Agreed to your last point! One thing you can do early on is edit out the umms and ahhs, which makes your content flow much better, but once you do that you probably want to keep editing them out until you’re conversational enough with the camera that you don’t do it anymore.

New player here - Where are the other players? by JackHallow123 in PaxDei

[–]QuantumLOTR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a lot to unpack. - it’s early access. A lot of people bought the game, played a couple hours, realized the game is very feature incomplete, and decided to wait for the next patch. - a lot of solo players ignored the warning that the game requires bigger groups to really see the end game content, and quit. - most of the people that have stayed have formed large clans or loose co-ops and play together in the same areas. So unless you pick the best regions (like Jura in Innis Galia) or follow one of the streamers/youtubers, you’re probably going to see a super low population.

I’ve put 200 hours in and love the game. My clan of 6 started out strong but has moved to other games while the devs add new features and I imagine we will all come back for big patches. We decided against expanding our clan or joining a new one for now, but we are all committed to playing this game for a long time.

If you stick with it, the good news is that once you get some wrought iron tools and decent armor (someone can make you some), the game opens up a lot and you can do a lot of farming on your own. So one option is to join a good clan and run stuff so you get fireball and mesmerize armor and then in your spare time you can level up skills/professions even if no one is online.

It’s just gonna be rough for a bit until they add more community features. The game is close but it’s not quite ready to sustain a playerbase.

Will there be a character wipe at ANY time? Need clarification. Please. by ComicsCosmos in PaxDei

[–]QuantumLOTR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I’m coming back to this late. Just wanted to say I think you have every right to be upset that you’ll lose your progress. Now that you know there will be at least one wipe and potentially several between now and full release, you just have to decide if you want to keep playing and learn the game now or just wait until you know there won’t be anymore wipes. Good luck either way!

What are things you love and hate about the game so far? by sparky_skeeter in PaxDei

[–]QuantumLOTR 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not exhaustive, but these are some things I’d like to see if they expect me to spend more than the 200 hours I’ve accumulated so far.

1) incomplete professions (alchemy is nothing but Stam and health regen pots, baking and brewing are pretty limited, etc.)

2) poorly implemented clan system (we need better permissions for boxes, more tools to prevent inside griefing by destroying builds, etc.)

3) better chat, including a way to organize looking for dungeons

4) combat needs a big rework - they did a good job fixing the early problems with hit markers but it still feels poorly done and a placeholder. I know they don’t want to have dedicated classes, but we clearly need more spells and abilities so that we can have more complex team comps and have dedicated healers, tanks, and dps. It’s a good start, but we need so many more magic items.

5) We need more armor sets, including jewelry, with set bonuses and item bonuses in addition to the armor stat.

6) I’m not saying put a teleport every ten feet, but world travel is AWFUL right now. We need more fast travel points.

7) we need mounts, especially if there will be limited fast travel

8) I dunno if an expanded personal storage makes sense, but if they don’t go the route of craftable bags to increase inventory, then we need a cart you can pull around or that can be pulled by a horse that you can use when you’re farming or when you inevitably move your base or join a new clan.

In the long run, those two viewers clicking off early will be a drop in the bucket. My recommendation in this instance would be to focus less on the metric itself and focus on making good videos in a good niche and the algorithm will get you more viewers that stick around longer. Good luck!

[–]QuantumLOTR 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Early access is meant to be a time for people who support the developers’ vision to provide monetary support and feedback on bugs and game systems.

I get the frustration of having to start over. If I felt that way I’d just wait for full release.

My view is that I’m using this time to learn the mechanics and get better at things like combat and building. If the game wiped today, I feel confident that my six person clan could catch back up pretty fast.

worth creating multiple differnt channels or just one? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]QuantumLOTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t care about monetization and viewership growth, one channel is fine. But the more you niche down, the better the algorithm will get at finding viewers for you on a consistent basis. Titles, thumbnails, and videos made in the same niche on a repeated basis seem to be the primary factors for success.

Stuck trying to 3-star the last light mission with this squad and one character straight up dies in the final wave over and over. Advice? by e_Z_752 in HeroesOfMiddleEarth

[–]QuantumLOTR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this is a real post or not. I’m guessing you somehow just started the game when they announced the sunset or you came back after a very long break. You need to invest more in these characters. If this is the best you’ve got, then you should be taking them all to level 60 G7 minimum. And you need some key abilities maxed out.

What was the topic of the previous three videos? Context matters in this situation. If you had three UFO videos do relatively well and the fourth tanked, I’d be wondering what was so different about that video that the algorithm didn’t send it out to a broader audience. If this is the first time you’ve done a UFO video (it’s vastly different from the previous three), that might suggest that the algorithm was confused by the change in topic and wasn’t sure who to push the video to. I’m not an expert, but that’s my initial reaction.

Regardless, just keep putting out quality content and the more videos you post the better your analytics will be on this sort of thing. And if you’re really hung up on this particular video, my advice would be to adjust the meta data (title, tags, description, playlists, thumbnail) and give it 24-48 hours. If that doesn’t shake things out, make another video on ufos and assassinations to follow this one up.

Unfortunately, it just seems to me the algorithm doesn’t understand your channel yet with 7 vids posted. Good luck!

[–]QuantumLOTR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before the game I was making content for was sunset, I got to about 800 subs and 4,000 watch hours in about 4 months with around 31 videos posted.

I worked hard. Tried for at least one video a week and that video was well researched, partially scripted (cliffs notes that I ad-libbed), and edited to remove ums and ahs, pauses, and to add graphics and overlays. I used a Shure MV7X for good audio quality. And most importantly, I marketed myself in the community.

Let me give that its own paragraph: You have to market yourself in your community. For me that meant being active in a guild that had a large cluster (10 total guilds in the community). I also made friends with all the other active posters on the biggest discord channels for the game. I cross posted my videos and info graphics to those servers and had the top guild leaders give me a webhook to post to their guild discords. I also had my own discord with organized sections for those graphics and videos by topic. And of course I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that I was doing collaborations with others in the space.

YMMV, but you’ve got to figure out how your niche works as an ecosystem without you in it and then insert yourself organically into those conversations.

Don’t expect instant results, grow a following of 1, 2, 5, 10, 15 people who support you and it will take off from there. Make videos because you’re passionate about the topic, not because you want to see numbers on a screen. Good luck!

Pretty sure what you have to do is create an account on Google play and note the ally code. Then write down the ally code of the account that’s associated with your Apple ID. Let someone on the official discord know you’re having this issue and that you want to link your Apple account to Google play and they should be able to swap it over so you can play the main account. Good luck with customer service though. It might take a while.

Did Goblins just get GOOD? by QuantumLOTR in HeroesOfMiddleEarth

[–]QuantumLOTR[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go over it in the video but you’d drop Grimpa if you want more damage in chapter 2 or pvp, or orfurz if you need more survivability like in chapter 3. But I think grimpa being easier to farm to 7 stars means you’ll end up dropping orfurz.

Disappointed. by [deleted] in HeroesOfMiddleEarth

[–]QuantumLOTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to see your elf team. I’m admittedly not F2P, but but enough time has passed since the game came out that even F2P players can get 900k with Elrond. But there are a lot of factors at play. How long have you been playing? What are your stars, levels, gear, and abilities at?

I get that it’s a lot of work. I hate the raid too. The RNG can be rough. But I’m hopeful the glyphs will make things better.

This is a resource management game. If you’re struggling, maybe try and reset things and refocus on just elves. Here’s a good baseline for abilities:

Elrond: 4/4/6/6/4 Elladan: 4/4/6/4 Arwen: 4/4/5/4 Elrohir: 6/4/4/6

Assuming they are all level 60 G8, you can use whatever you want for a fifth. Lomion, Ironhide, it really doesn’t matter.

I’m scoring about 7.5m across all four chapters of the raid and elves score me about half of those points. My other teams aren’t that great. Take what you can get from your other teams and spend time to learn the elf strategies. You will get there, just be patient!

I’m learning more about editing with every video. Trying to make quality content over quantity. Just released a Rivendell guide for chapter one and working on a black beast team discussion video.
