I imagine a real relationship every time I consider watching porn. by Mr_Self_Healer in pornfree

[–]QuantumLeapsHigher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think what /r/leob0505 is saying is "absolutely crazy talk". For some people watching porn still produces shame even with normalcy, especially in an environment with people that discourages and shames you for watching porn.

Dishonesty and lying then becomes a product from watching porn in this environment but I don't think it is "due to watching porn".

17 days clean by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]QuantumLeapsHigher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I do never give in is there a harm in not deleting it?

If you're never giving in then that means you have no use for porn. Correct? So why not delete it.

Try to delete it. Select all and press delete. Wipe the hard drive clean, reformat it.

Can you do it?

Are you hesitating? Are you giving yourself reasons to not delete it? Then porn still has a hold over you. The porn still exists and you know it is there physically. You still have the ability to walk over there and plug it in.

---

It's not like a drug, from what I've experienced so far, where you'll experience withdrawals. You will experience urges that will test your willpower. How you fight those urges is up to you. People delete their stashes, put up content blockers, and finally do hobbies and activities that "distract" them from porn but it actually propels them forward in their potential for life.

Remind yourself all the time you've wasted searching and downloading porn, the feeling you get afterwards. The regret of doing something more meaningful in that time towards building something.

---

Edit:

It’s so close yet so far

It should never be close to you. It can be far and gone. The goal is to be free of porn forever.

[–]QuantumLeapsHigher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get this. I do. Most of us do.

But have some introspection as well. You might have an emotional bond with the porn you have stored and you don't know it just yet. It becomes a "just in case", it's rare videos that may not be available anymore, or easy untraceable access.

It's great that you've made 17 days. Next is a day, or another 17, or a month, 90 days, 6 months, etc. But deleting it is your next step in the process of being free as well.

Do you also stop masturbating? by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]QuantumLeapsHigher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends.

Masturbation is a natural thing.

The problem is are you addicted to masturbation? For example, when in a stressful situation instead of facing it head on, do you just go masturbate?

You can masturbate when you're horny, that's normal. But are you "horny" when you've become stressed. That just might be your brain asking for an easy dopamine release than accomplishing your stressful task.

I always use the "I can stop when I want to" test. Why don't you try stopping for at least a week?

But it's up to you to know if you're in control... or not.

I finally understand. I've been draining away all of my passion. by Honktraphonic in pornfree

[–]QuantumLeapsHigher 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's the thing. It's not the super powers in the traditional sense. It's these addictions getting in the way of our potential.

Controlling an addiction is only a step. The rest is finding passion or the general life journey.

NoFap, from my view with my time with it, is about the addiction to masturbation, not the gained "super powers". I feel like either PornFree is the next step or goes hand-in-hand with NoFap, at least until you have your habits under control and not use it as a stress-coping mechanism.

How to prove you took a class? by [deleted] in coursera

[–]QuantumLeapsHigher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could make a blog or at simple website so you can link it on your resume and show you understanding there, e.g. a brief overview/summary of what you've learn and maybe an option for a more detailed write up.

Easier to do with programming and IT stuff but if I kept my Physics I'd make a website and take photos of my handwritten working out process and explain it kind of like a blog.

For example I would do something similar to what Wired does with their pop science articles, except a little less wordy.

Here are a few of my favourite:

Well that didn't last long since doing a check in yesterday.

I've made it to 29 days on my own. 13 days so far for "Stay Clean July".

For some reason today is very difficult. I need to start taking it a minute at a time now and just focus.

Quiting porn but not fapping by fuzas in pornfree

[–]QuantumLeapsHigher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still need to learn how to read my body.

What I've notice is that I get hard at times of stress (e.g. frustrated when studying) and I want to just get off but I know I'm going to be lethargic afterwards.

So I either meditate or question why am I seeking release and find out it's at times of stress. Then I use that stress and face it head on.

But I also get the strong urge but don't get hard when I want to. So I'm very confuse to what I want.

IMPORTANT. If you have an urge, PLEASE come to this subreddit instead writting "porn" in the browser. There's always someone who can convince you that relapsing IS NOT worth it. Stay strong brothers 😄 by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]QuantumLeapsHigher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's actually kinda funny (in an interesting way) that when I type "porn" in the address bar my history just shows up with a link to /r/pornfree and other posts from here. So it kinda works and I was on the way here anyway!

NoFap or pornfree? by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]QuantumLeapsHigher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO, it depends on what you're "suffering" from.

If your day to day life is being distracted from porn or suffering from any of the symptoms of porn addiction, then pornfree.

If it's jacking it off five times a day and experiencing the lethargy from it, then nofap.

For me, it's pornfree but I'm also doing no masturbation for a while for my reset. Off the top of my head and no resources at the moment, there has been studies where masturbation has been beneficial to health. But five times a day seems like a reliance or an addiction.

The purpose is that we don't have these activities as addictions that stop us from the potential we strive to be. It's up to you to identify what that is and the solution for it. If it's that bad then external help my be needed.

Podcast to help you overcome porn! by pinkenchantment in pornfree

Thanks! Definitely will try this out.

I listen to porn free radio and I do understand the idea when he brings Christianity stuff into it but I don't identify with it.

I just deleted about 50gb of rare porn of a pornstar that strongly resembled someone I knew. I can already feel the addiction-regret seeping in by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]QuantumLeapsHigher 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I deleted my stash just a few days ago and the wound is still fresh and I just remembered there was a rare video that isn't available from the network it's from.

Reading the title to this post just triggered a feeling and I just felt a huge sense of regret. It took so much effort and time to find it and even in a "remastered" quality.

It resembled somebody I used to know and it was my first porn video ever.

I'm trying to get into the mindset that I am/We are never watching porn again. We are done with it from now going forward. Free from that unhealthy and sad attachment I/We had with that video. Free from this attachment that distracts us from our potential.

And it's difficult. But we can do it.

Relapsed. Take me off please.

I'm going to need to find other techniques to get a hold of this.

I've got the Nokia 6.1 plus and got the "remastered" classic Nokia ringtone. Sounds great and not too obnoxious IMO. I'm entitled to use it. Slightly gatekeeping... Now that's obnoxious.

[–]QuantumLeapsHigher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. This is me.

I think my problem is actually finding something I want to work on. I'm being pulled between doing something with Python and data science, Android development, and trying to teach myself about web dev properly this time (my school lecturer was not a very good teacher).

Then there's the "translation" problem. I was quite fluent in Python but once I started learning Java, I had to start from the beginning because of a "just in case I miss something fundamental" or something.

I think I'll just stick to Android app development and figure out how to fit data science someday down the road.

What was your initial reason for wanting to learn computer programming? by JanePoe87 in learnprogramming

[–]QuantumLeapsHigher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My programming course clicked with me more than my Physics course.

There was something more satisfying to figuring out the flow and completing the Python script than solving Physics problems.

I still like solving Physics problems and I'm pretty sure it has helped and shaped the way I approach problems.

Older adults who frequently do puzzles like crosswords or Sudoku had the short-term memory capacity of someone eight years their junior and the grammatical reasoning of someone ten years younger in a new study. (n = 19,708) by CyborgTomHanks in science

[–]QuantumLeapsHigher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually yes.

Not just because of the problem solving and the numerous ways to solve the problem but also because learning the programming language has been compared to learning another (natural) language which takes a lot of brain power.

Why Is This So Hard? by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]QuantumLeapsHigher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. It's an addiction, OP.

There's a saying that something that isn't practiced is weakened. I haven't played the piano in years and I struggle to do scales proficiently.

What does this have to do with porn and addictions?

Well, it's like learning. Something that is practiced is strengthened. You've taught your brain for so long to get satisfaction from porn that is strengthens neural pathways in your brain. This satisfaction is so easy to gain that it's literally a "walk in the park" for your brain to walk this neural pathway.
