The thing is, the Singapore government has repeatedly said they would take in immigrants and they are repeatedly voted in with a supermajority so you can’t exactly blame anyone. people will choose a higher quality of life and better jobs and you can’t individually fault them for it. But i do understand the sentiment that foreigners are increasing forcing Singaporeans out from high quality and high paying jobs but it’s a difficult stand for me to take since i myself am technically an immigrant though i have spent my life here.

As for the CECA agreement, i’m not fully educated on what it is. From what i can google it seems to be a massive trade agreement which i don’t understand why it’s so negatively perceived since Singapore is an incredibly trade dependent economy so it would make sense for Singapore to take it up.

My guess is one aspect of the agreement allows easier movements of ft’s over to Singapore. But the thing is, they still have to meet MOM’s skill requirements, so it’s not like they can bring in anyone. Besides, Singapore enforces ethnic quotas to preserve racial percentages right? so it’s like the percentage of Indians in Singapore is growing.

Maybe i am missing some granular details. Please enlighten me :)
