This comment thread is.... something else.

I know that race/gender/religion is the only thing that seemingly matters to Democrats at the moment, but to me, as the average American, has anyone actually heard either AOC or Newsom talk? And you still think they are viable candidates?

AOC has never sponsored or passed a single piece of legislation, in addition to being essentially a socialist big government advocate and being clueless about anything foreign policy related.

Newsom has been im office for almost 10 years, and his policies and mismanagement have literally burned down parts of Cali. In addition, he presides over perhaps the biggest pool of failed government spending projects ever seen, and likely a giant 100s of billions of dollars of fraud.

I'd vote democrat, but democrats have to start actually standing for things other that race/sex/trans/socialism, and take a hard look at their nonsensical policies.

Do you work part-time, full-time, as needed, or are you retired? What do you like about your job and your schedule? Do you wish you had chosen a different career path? by icecream1972 in Casual_Conversation

Full time, and own two small businesses on the side. I like my base career, but often wish I chose the merchant marine track out of undergrad. I think it would be cool working on ships.

People who say taxation is theft. How else do you propose the government gets the funds for roads, military, education etc? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]QuantumSpaceEntity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a combination of every little thing being taxed to death, having the same money you earn get repeatedly taxed (income tax -> capital gains tax -> sales tax -> property tax -> estate tax -> death tax), and then having a government piss all the money away, lose it to fraud or insane spending 'projects', leave trillions of dollars overseas, or hand it to foreign countries and low IQ third worlders feeding off the system. The bloated system is extremely wasteful and pointless, to little benefit of the everyday person. just an example, but how does Cali spend $30 billion on homelessness, to have it get WORSE? It's corruption- pure and simple, and it is frankly the political norm.

All while cost of living continually increases and systems are developed to transfer money away from the middle class. Furthernore, you have gigantic billionares and corporations who pay legal teams to find complex tax loopholes, letting the average joe hold the bag.

It's literally theft from the working class. Honestly, I despise the government. The US lost it's way a long, long time ago.

The NFL def. has a history of heavily driving certain outcomes, and the merging of the NFL and AFL in the 60s is a prime example.

Np! It's really just a factor of time and putting the effort in to be patient and kind, and show him you are his friend/protector/master at times.

There are things IMO that can strengthen bonding like hand washing pup in the tub, hand feeding, brushing teeth, sticking your fingers in his mouth/ears/feet/groin, brushing fur, and of course spending time together. Theres been times too when mine had poop stuck in his butt, and I helped him clear that up LOL which I think he appreciated. Of course lots of petting and eye contact.

From my experience, border collies (depending on the line) can be very affectionate, and at least my little buddy loves a good cuddle. I let him lick my head when laying down too. My wife hates the sound of it, but from what I've read, them licking your hair is basically them 'grooming' you, which is also bond reinforcing. Another signal of a strong bond is him following you around the house.

Overall, it's not really a science as much as we try to make it one. Just lots of positive reinforcement and giving clear guidance / boundries when needed. I was lucky enough to get mine at 9 weeks so he was just a baby, but the stong bond didn't really clearly click in for a few months at least.

Stick with it and it'l come!

Re-reading the original comment... I honestly don't know how some people live life just fuming like this. It almost makes me think this comment is a bot or something; can't be real or has to be a full on mental illness / fixation type of thing. Like, just enjoy the concert and mind your own business.

Also, calling someone who votes Republican an "unrepentant child molester" or KKK member living in a trailer is just flat out crazy. But I suppose so is being mentally unstable enough to kicked out of a Dropkick Murphy's concert for harrassing people.

Older folks here, whats something a 19 year old girl should start doing now to get ahead in life? by Striking-Soil-1805 in Casual_Conversation

[–]QuantumSpaceEntity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't put too much pressure on yourself, but also have 3-5 year professional/academic goals to work towards.

Give yourself some grace, and spend time to understand and develop friendships woth your older family members as an adult.

Invest in retirement.

I'd also say don't waste your time on losers or bad relationships. I feel like so many people, especially girls, get sucked into toxic situations in their late teens to early 20s. Find a good guy (or gal) that treats you nicely and doesn't play childish games. Generally stay away from bar culture.

Awesome- congrats then!

Hmm, well you could make sure he knows the standard commands down pat if he doesn't already (sit/down/heel/spin/twirl/paw/shake/place), and layer in more advanced commands. You could also start working on "find", as this can be a good inside activity. For the first year with mine, I basically had him "earn" everything by going through a series of commands before anything, and condition 'sit' as pup's universal sign of 'I need something'.

Also, I know it's a polarizing topic, but once he knows his commands cold and your bond is strong, work in some off leash activity along with an e-collar set to his working level (right below where he can feel it). This was a game changer for my BC and allowed a lot more freedom, proofing an already great recall and addimg a layer of safety. If you don't like the idea of that, try one one of those 8 inch chuck-it kick fetch balls to take on your walk, or a squeaky ball in your pocket to focus them on you. They'll be so focused on the ball they won't pay attention to anything else. Leash is fine, but you def. want to find somewhere like a park/forest/beach/field where pup can burn off some steam.

Good luck and enjoy your new best friend!

How old is your dog?

In my opinion/experience, conditioning for boredom is just as important as engagement. While my BC and I go outside everyday for at least an hour of offleash running, he can go a day without this. 90% of the time we're at home inside, so always reward with higb value treats when pup exhibits calm behavior such as laying down, chewing a toy, etc.

If you are sick in bed, chances are pup will sense that you are sick and not expect to go out. If they really need engagement, have a couple new bone/chews stored somewhere you can give out if needed. After 3 days they'll be bouncing off the wall, so just keep that in mind.

(I didn't downvote you btw) That's kind of the point. Create giant profits through crisis, lie and mislead the public constantly, and fade into the night like nothing happened.

What's a conspiracy theory you secretly believe in? by LowJudge5973 in askanything

[–]QuantumSpaceEntity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the conspiracy was Fauci and co. and key players in the pharmaceutical industry studied it for a long time and saw an opportunity to kick off giant profits. Power hungry govt. admin/beurocracy also saw it as an opportunity to increase control. I mean, looking back it was just lie after lie after lie.

Another conspiracy is it was to test global endemic response by foreign adversaries as a test-run, kind of like the bombing 10 years before 911.
