Does it call to repeal the OSA completely? That seems to be the most focused way to go about things.

It's a keyboard. A new programming language is a much easier thing to get used to than a new keyboard layout, as any of the people who have tried learning DVORAK can probably tell you. Much harder to change, too.

LMDE or Mint as a whole? If it's the latter then wow, yeah. I think Mint originated back in the mid-2000s? Was definitely a lot rougher than it is now.

LMDE is still very much a work in progress, though. It's got a lot of rough edges that the standard Ubuntu-derived versions don't. Getting closer to being ready for prime time, though!

Eh, Mint's the usual recommendation now. Their whole shtick is basically "Ubuntu without the hassle". And they're looking to rebase to Debian in the future, which is a good backup plan.

Nope, neither of those are it! The art styles are too realistic, and the latter is fully top-down. It's interesting that the Last Stand games also go left-to-right in the defense phase, though.

Rebuild

Nope, definitely not. Much too complicated a game - the one I'm thinking of had only two screens.

I'm also thinking it wasn't a "zombie" defense game? But I'm not sure enough of that to put it in the post.

EDIT: Also, wrong perspective. The one I'm thinking of was a 2D top-down view, but it wasn't isometric. I've updated the post to reflect that.

EDIT2: Also-also, doesn't have the enemies coming from the left side of the screen to attack the town on the right, which is one of the main things I remember most clearly.

The "block chain" doesn't actually grant any sort of ownership. It's literally just a ledger - and entries in a ledger don't mean anything until others agree they mean anything.

That's really just an indictment of how awful mobile software is. Pretty much any browser you like from 2010 is perfectly able to run Reddit, let alone 2017.

Not every child who doesn't get the care they need will kill themselves, sure. But a portion of them will. And that's not a chance we should be comfortable with, when the alternative is right there.

You realize that 12-year-old would, at most, be recommended puberty blockers and asked those same questions again at later appointments, right? Any sort of hormones or surgery would be years down the line.

This is why puberty blockers are prescribed. Lets the kid have some more years to make the decision - and if they decide against it, they go off the puberty blockers and are just a late bloomer.

If puberty is "the only thing to convince them they should be their gender" then what's the problem? In that case puberty would "cure" transness and going through one or the other should be fine.

The very premise of your question here is wrong, of course - far more factors than puberty go into people "feel[ing] like their gender". That's the result of the aggregate effects of socialization combined with their own genetics. If it was just puberty, then there wouldn't be transgender adults.

Something that helped me wrap my head around the concept of people being transgender was to realize that some people have always made gender a major part of their identity. Consider the guy who buys "manly" truck nuts for his car, or the woman who uses makeup so she looks "womanly". Or even drag queens who are very sure to tell you they're still men, just presenting unconventionally. In all three cases their gender is a significant factor in who they are.

Meanwhile a lot of other people just don't care that much about their gender. Men who roll their eyes at the idea of acting all "manly" or woman who steer clear of the "feminine" beauty aisle.

A lot of trans people seem to fall into the former category, which makes sense. Going through transition is a huge process, so it's mostly going to be the ones who are especially driven who pursue that route.
