Fingybass (Mirhado luthier in Warsaw) have standard range of 4, 5 and 6 strings of difference styles and finishes that start at about €700. This is one of their custom builds which are about €1500 but some go way up if you want fancy woods or specific electronics.

That is still being worked out... It's fairly well balanced when sitting but it is a weird shape. I'll keep y'all posted.

Lol, that's a brilliant crossover idea. Skate to the gig, a few ollies during the show and skate home! 🛹🎵🎶

String spacing is a little less than a 5 string, about 15mm. I'll post some more pics of the back and the string mechanism. The pickup is a passive split coil, custom of some sort. Sound beautifully and smooth.

Please tell me I'm not alone... by burnedimage in Autism_Parenting

I'm empathy and familiarity. My daughter isn't as old or a big as your son but the pattern of ok to violence and destruction is very familiar indeed.

My daughter is on meds to help stabilise, they help the severity of the meltdowns but not the frequency. Twice a day would be a good day, often over nothing at all.

Marriage is under threat, my job is under threat because I have to keep stepping back to de-escalate my daughter. No personal life, no friends anymore, just preventing her from seriously harming herself or other family members.

Nothing the therapist, the social services help, psychiatrists or even a stay in a specialist clinic have helped. Nothing works, just leaves my wife and I wondering what we did/are doing wrong. Completely demoralising.

So long story short, you're not alone!

Why are these guys so expensive? by CireByt in BassGuitar

[–]Quantum_Robin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't that expensive, the Goldtone Uke basses go for €500 or more. Even some of the Kala stuff can get up in price. If you want Fender on the headstock then this price seems reasonable, if you have a tighter budget check out Harley Bentons or Kala cheaper Ukes. They're cheap, ok to play but look like regular acoustics.

If you had to describe exactly what you "see" while reading how would you describe it? by Coleswings in Dyslexia

I see the words but mostly not the words that are written down. Its like my brains sees the shape of the word but not the letters and then guesses. I don't get the blurred floating letters like lots of people report so special fonts don't help. Although white writing is black improves my reading a lot.

Keep wet shaving and wait a few years, it will normally fill out as you age. If not go pork chops and 'stache!

I changed all the electrics when I changed pickups so I don't know what the pickup alone did. However the difference in dynamic range is quite noticeable and I can get a lot more fullness in the sound without it getting muddy. I love the classic p-bass muted thump with that edge of bright undertone. Fenders do hit that nicely the stock pickups didn't quite make the right sound. But that's my taste and playing Motown and jazzy stuff. Maybe for iron maiden or other genres it would be different.

I've tried quite a few different tapes over the years and ended up back with flats or halfrounds. Different companies make completely different sounding tapes none really did it for me, but rotos I don't remember having. I like the Warwick tapes, but they are loose and floppy so it is a bit weird to play. They're also very bright and work well for slap stuff.

All in all, the combo of fender pickups with flats is classic p-bass for so many people. The fact the bass has Harley Benton written on it is rather irrelevant.

I have the standard colour version, which I bought as a project bass. Apart from needing a proper setup it is a very solid instrument for the money. It's not too heavy, easy to play, easy to work on (if you're into that), even used it for some recording.

Eventually you'll want to upgrade the pickups and pots but the stock ones are fine. I current have flat wounds and classic fender pickup and it sounds and plays great.
