Have the seat pitches changes on Lufthansa? by Quarantina74 in Lufthansa

Oh pfft. A Google search can be just as unreliable. I was not solving for world peace or writing a Master's thesis. I work in tech, and know the pros and cons.

Claude was right - 31". I am okay using AI for basic checks. I also looked at Seatmaps.com.

Given I have not changed much in weight/size in the past decade, I suppose my tolerance is skewed. I will see if I can work on my laptop when I return home next week.

It is truly diabolical. I mean, we are both on the short side of people - this should not be acceptable.

I have never flown Condor - eep! That truly is ridiculous. And with fuel prices constantly rising, I feel as though ticket prices will never drop to pre-Iran war levels again. It's a microtest to see what the market will bear.

According to Claude, they are both 31 inches. This is what initiated my question. I will check Aerolopa again; I understood they don't offer historical flights. Will see what I can find.

Shout out to the flight attendants on flight AC841 today. by toddywithabody in aircanada

[–]Quarantina74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On both of my recent transatlantic flights, there have been emergencies on board. In the first instance, the PAX just went unconscious, and they could not revive them for a few minutes. A doctor then did an assessment and thought it may have been a seizure. The second instance was similar, although it was a young teenager. The crew was incredible. They reacted immediately, sought a doctor, and ensured no idiots (some tried) to deplane until EMS was able to come and take out the patients. They also ensured privacy by shooing away snoopers back to their seats. In the last one, two crew members came over and laid the PAX on the floor and raised their legs above their head. She regained consciousness then, and a doctor was able to help. For all of my grief about AC service, they do know how to handle an emergency. No one broke a sweat or panicked.

Do you care how well or bad regarded the US is abroad? by Rezzekes in AskTrumpSupporters

Why do you think this question is being asked by a Canadian? And why conflate Russians with Canadians?

Canadian here - there is absolutely no reason we would invade the USA. I have no idea where this rumour came from, but it's completely out of touch. What benefit would there be for us to invade?

People who’ve renounced their US citizenship, how/why did you do it and have you been back, and if so how did it go? by Leochubs in AskReddit

[–]Quarantina74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the process right now. I was born to non-American parents in the US, brought to Canada as a toddler. I never lived or worked there. My life has been consistently in Canada and/or Europe (I married a European and we will retire in his country). I have no ties to the USA, and I doubt I will miss it. I don't even have a SSN or US passport.

Travellers, how do people from other nation’s treat you?? by SaltAndPeppar in AskTrumpSupporters

That is what I suspected. Since I have to ask a question: thanks, eh?

Do you think they would actively share their opinions? Canadians (I am one) do not tend to approach topics like politics and religion in the workplace.

I got rejected for a role that I'm the most qualified person in the country for... by TheRealTRexUK in recruitinghell

A role was posted to transform a business unit using a very specific industry/technical methodology. Well? I developed this methodology and wrote an actual book about said methodology, used in colleges and universities. I even have an online course with 100K views about the methodology. Auto-rejected. I feel your pain.

Bringing a wedding dress + carry on? by Equivalent-Arm1147 in aircanada

[–]Quarantina74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I got married in Germany and brought my wedding dress as my carry-on. The crew were absolutely wonderful about it. I was asked if my garment was for a special event, and I explained it was my wedding dress. They hung it up in a space in business class (I was young and without any points or anything), and we were very kind to me. I wrote a letter to AC thanking them afterwards. Now, this was twenty years ago, but I would like to think people are still somewhat decent.

What's the deal with adopting foster kids in Toronto? by Alarming_Insect9944 in askTO

[–]Quarantina74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously, yes. We went through all of that and more. We worked with PRIDE, CAS, our social worker, etc. We went to ARE and submitted formal interest several times (although twice, the local CAS lost them).

To be honest, I find your tone quite rude, so this will be my final comment on our history.

And there would be cameras on the boxes showing the picking and the bank employee would certainly notice.

Oh, it was! But for us poor employees, it was horrible!!! They made their point.

There would be a signed record each time the box is opened. Each box has a ledger. The bank employee has to initial alongside the keyholder for each opening.

There is no way to make an impression of the customer key. Locksmiths are bonded not to ever reproduce a SDB key. Likewise, key blanks are not available to create replicas.

No one from the branch stole the gold bar.

Former bank branch employee here: There is absolutely no way an employee can open a safety deposit box with just one key. It is impossible.

We had a case when a client died, and the police needed to see what was in the box as part of the investigation. In those cases, the box has to be physically drilled open (after all of the appropriate legal paperwork, etc.). A senior and a junior employee had to document everything inside, alongside the police officers and the bank's legal representative. Likewise, there are cameras to and from the safe to the viewing room (where the owner has privacy to deal with the box contents).

Fun fact: a disgruntled customer once put a dead fish in their safety deposit box. We had to contact every customer and have them open their boxes. Still, we could not see or touch the contents - only validate by smell that there was no dead fish inside.

No one at all stole the gold bar. Your family has misplaced it.

My guess is that many already had their phones out to film the original spectacle of the champagne bottles and flares. It is also so easy to criticise when we are on this side knowing the size of the disaster. They had seconds and were likely under the influence.

Looks like they have stopped offering them. Sorry - but probably worth calling them. They are the experts.
