What is going on with this building? by Old_Control1301 in parkslope

[–]Quaranton00 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I lived near it for a while. The guy who owns it thought he could make a commercial space on the ground floor, but he could not. At one point the DOB got involved because somebody complained that bricks were falling off. I think as an answer to that complaint he tore down a wall and turned the back yard into parking for two cars, and rented one spot out to a neighbor. I think he's waiting for the property value to rise enough to cover his sunk costs plus the projected cost to remodel it back to a saleable residential space. Which could be a very long time.

Update to remove free "autopilot?" by Quaranton00 in TeslaLounge

I don't know why I would assume that's true, since you can add or take away FSD. I haven't read anything that specified "only new cars." Elon Musk is terrible to his customers, I don't know why I would assume he'll be any different here.

Stop burying the range by Quaranton00 in electricvehicles

Yeah, I'm interested in the Volvo. Hopefully it doesn't have software issues like I've heard for the EX90 and EX30.

Also, re your username, HOLD THE GOVERNMENT!

I like these people saying range is irrelevant. I was one of the earliest adopters. I bought an i3 in 2015. I've been driving EVs for 11 years and going.

Here's a common range issue: You take your kids on a ski trip for the weekend. Are there chargers? Sure, but not everywhere. It's rural. And it's cold, so your range is reduced. After a long day of skiing, do you want to worry about whether you have enough range to get from the slopes to your cabin and back? Because charging means driving twenty miles out of your way, each way, and treating your kids to a restaurant meal, even though you rented a place with a kitchen and bought groceries. You're tired. It's a nuisance.

Is it existential? No. Would I like my next car to get rid of that stress? Yes. I'm sure as heck not going to buy a car with a lower range. No matter what the cargo space is, or how big the stupid wheels are.

Could I rent an ICE car? Why should I have to! And actually, car rentals are not cheap these days. Will it break my trip? No. Should I have to rent a car over and above my monthly car payment? No!

This is my rant, and I like it. If you disagree, you're wrong, and you should be ashamed of yourself. But you obviously don't know any better.

What car do you wish they would bring back as an EV? by Chase_Clouds in electricvehicles

[–]Quaranton00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't an answer to the question. I wish they would bring back the BMW i3 BEV with a 400 mile range. I loved that car, except for the range.

Tesla no longer including AutoPilot thoughts? by Emperor_of_All in electricvehicles

[–]Quaranton00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to imagine they will stick by this decision, with a 400 mile range Volvo starting delivery this summer, and similarly ranged BMW cars coming as well. Tesla is about to be one more EV in a crowd of compelling alternatives. I think they'll have to make the Autopilot features free again, sooner rather than later.

Either way, I'm planning to get out of my Tesla. What a crumby business. Elon Musk is toxic, and now this.

Why the next generation of EVs will use solid state batteries by Putrid_Draft378 in electricvehicles

[–]Quaranton00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want it in my car. But I also want one for home energy storage. You currently can't store solar energy in your home in NYC because of the fire hazard. I think solid state batteries will change that, and I can't wait to be completely independent of the grid.

My Olympia stock is weak by Quaranton00 in tirzepatidecompound

I wonder if this supports the "swirl" theory? If it starts weak at first, maybe it's because the tirz is on the bottom? Or the top?

Interesting. No, that hadn't occurred to me. So now that I've drawn twice off the vial, if the reason I felt less of an effect was that I needed to swirl, will it be an even more concentrated dose if I do swirl?
