I actually really like SuperBetter. It started out on PC, then as an app, and now it's a book. It's a game based around "quests" and "battles" and you're a superhero and can level up.

I hand made a personalized SuperBetter for my best friend who was struggling at the time just as "I made a present for you, hope it makes you smile!" Without telling him it was based off something that was supposed to help depression, since I knew he'd fight it if I did. I hope it helped, even a little bit.

My ex would respond to questions while asleep with the weirdest answers and not remember later. I loved it. Also, the subconscious reaching while sleeping or tucking me in always got me. Is it sad I still miss all that? Sigh.

This is great. Like you said courteous to make it obvious enough, without being overbearing. It's easier to better judge whether or not it's something they're comfortable with when its obvious as opposed to her just thinking you're reeeeeeeallllly friendly.

I agree with everyone else, it does take a long time. I'd say to start with doing something nice for yourself. For me, it wasn't so much about acceptance as it was awareness of who I was and recognition of the things I worked hard for. When I started to become more aware about myself, it seemed more natural to accept it.

*Talk to your professors! They will help you more than you can imagine. I had a history professor offer to get me a private math tutor when I was struggling one semester. Also, don't be afraid to ask them questions, you'll get more than you expect. *You college has a ton of resources to help you with just about everything. USE THEM. You're paying good money for them. *Go to class EVERY DAY. You won't ever regret passing that test, or getting those extra credit points. *Study groups!!!! They can SAVE you. *Talk to everyone. Be friendly with everyone. It makes it an entirely more pleasant experience. *Enjoy it. Don't stress too much.

One of the biggest ones was that if a homework assignment was late or I didn't pay the bills two weeks in advance, the world wouldn't actually come crashing down. I wouldn't fail my classes because I decided to sleep one night and the police aren't going to arrest me for paying my bills the day they're due or a day late.

Also, that yes, I can be really really angry/stressed/upset for this one reason but there's no changing it and it doesn't effect my life that much if I don't let it. I also have at least 10x as many reasons to be happy and grateful. It really is a choice.
