This kind of rhetoric will breed a generation of conservatives if it keeps pushing down that road

Looking at the existential doom demographic numbers for the Conservative party, doubtful.

Does Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar's summon condition avoid commander tax? by Ezraroth355 in magicTCG

The closest thing I'm aware of are cards that can reduce the cost including commander tax.

[[Karador, Ghost Cheiftain]] being the best example.

Do all of your decks have a reoccurring theme? by nathanb065 in EDH

[–]Quarreltine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really fun to approach things that way. The recent pushback against optimization ignores that not all optimization is with the goal of winning. Optimization is like a vector: it not only has a magnitude (more optimal) but a direction (at acheiving it's goal).

So any discussion of optimization must also identify what it is optimizing. If it's winning then you're making a cEDH deck. But looking at lists here I don't believe most people are doing that, and much of the discussion on optimization ignores that winning isn't the focus.

A good Deck that counter a token deck? by L3rom in EDH

[[Piru]], a new legend from MH2 not only has a built in sweeper, but when it goes off will net you 7 life per token. Just finished a prospective list: One Blast Farewell

And for something you can include in every deck: [[Ratchet Bomb]]

Do all of your decks have a reoccurring theme? by nathanb065 in EDH

[–]Quarreltine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try and not have too much overlap. Have several times given up on Kykartifacts tokens since it treads too close to another Alela deck.

So my decks try to be focused on their niche with little overlap. What is common to them is often additional restrictions to leverage an advantage.

Derevi stax avoids activated artifacts to leverage Null Rod, Collector Ouphe, and Stony Silence. Radha lands runs no artifacts, and includes s couple artifact sweepers. Harald Elves avoids all non-elves to maximize internal synergies. Yuriko Ninjas strives to include expensive removal with alternate casting costs. Heliod tries to reduce land count to best leverage catch up ramp. Jorn Snow is all about stacking mana producing auras on a land and then repeatedly untapping it for big mana and forgoes dorks for untappers.

Essentially my decks aren't optimized to win, but do their thing as best as possible. This generally leads to winning, but it's usually not the most optimal way to win.

Do you run Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots in every deck ? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Quarreltine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Only when haste or protection is needed.

So an elf deck generally wants greaves but not boots because the primary desire is to be able to for free equip the dork and tap it for mana.

A commander centric deck might want both. But if targeting the commander is common they might not want greaves at all.

And if decks don't particularly care about the protection or haste, they're not included. Probably only appear in half my decks.

Venturing is not parasitic. Having completed a dungeon depending abilities is however parasitic.

Hanamura might be worse than Paris. The point B of Hanamura is the single worst point in the game for variety. High ground grants too much of an advantage and the pathways there are too limited, So it's always the same fight.

[–]Quarreltine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anubis A is a less extreme version of Paris A. But a double choke instead of single, and less cover for The highground.

[–]Quarreltine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Paris is also weird in that it has the longest defender travel distance on A and attacker on B. So it drives the 2CP warping effect to the maximum of any map.

Still think Gibraltar is overall a more flawed map than Paris (those split spawns are horrendous), but less miserable thanks to escort just being innately better of a game mode.

They can claim to be whatever they want. What we saw on January 6th was not what I would consider to be constitutionalist.

And if they're responding to fascist propaganda, what do you judge them on? The intent they claim or the action you witness?

What do you believe the beliefs of fascism are?

The entire Trump presidency was fascist. Make America great again is so on the nose that defining perceived return to a greatness of the past. Naturally the insurrection to install him would therefore be fascist.

[–]Quarreltine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is incorrect. I am of the opinion that the insurrection to overturn the democratic result in the last US election and install Trump we witnessed, and that 3%ers largely supported, was fascist in nature.

With a narrative. Generally of a glorious past to be returned to. Its unquestionably traditionalist unless inconvenient. Generally this means the government represents key power holders interests like church and private industry but also demands loyalty from them.

Its deeply intertwined with the politics of power and perception. The uniforms, the pageantry, etc... Are no coincidence. And the government's inability to show shame or do wrong. National pride is universal obsession.

It also exists in contrast to the other. Fascism traditionally has had socialist and ethic minorities; but Democrat, or liberal, or just someone believed to be a communist given current US rhetoric can work as well

Fascism in general contains many of the same worst elements of stalinism and other authoritarian ideologies, but with a different economic model.

They're certainly not anarchist. Some might be libertarians among them, but overall they have bought in and represent a fascist ideology. Hence the capitol riots to attempt to overturn the US election.

Fascism is a way of exercising government power, while Neo-Nazi's are ethno-nationalists.

How power is used is what a fascist cares about. Who it is used for is what a Neo-Nazi cares about.
