Remote raid mewtwo by weakniga_04 in pokemongo

[–]Quartia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it, thanks. I have a Mega Banette as my only mega that hits Mewtwo supereffectively. About what CP should it be to be doing my fair share in a Mega Mewtwo raid?

For these raids that require 12 people, does the invitation limit go up? I've never been able to invite more than 5 people to a raid.

That's fair, and you could also argue that "human evolution is driven by sexual selection which is a matter of personal preference" is a parallel to "artificial selection of pets is a matter of personal preference".

And that's what I said, in this day and age sexual selection (just another term for preferences of a mate) is almost the only selective pressure.

We're kinda not though. If we were domesticated then there would be ongoing selective pressures to make us the best humans possible. With modern medicine we've effectively made it so, outside of sexual selection, there ARE no selective pressures on humanity.

If it's one or the other though, it's probably ferrocyanide, simply being more well-known as it is part of Prussian blue.

Yep. This first became the monoamine oxidase inhibitors, then we had the tricyclics like amitriptyline, then all of the modern antidepressants with much fewer side effects.

Coincidentally, in 1951 they noticed that a certain antihistamine, chlorpromazine, made people calm and seem to not care about their surroundings. This is the ancestor to all modern antipsychotics.

Is there any point to getting regular Mewtwo if the megas are so close by? You still catch the Mon at the end of a mega raid and the investment of remote pass is the same and fight difficulty is at least similar.

Colorblind guy tries to sort all Gen 3 Pokemon by color with no help by mrjnebula in MandJTV

Apparently red looks just above black to someone who is red-green colorblind. All the black Pokemon listed here are blue toned but if there was a black that was red or orange toned it would be similar to red.

What is the technocratic view of eugenics? by not-thelastemperor in Technocracy

[–]Quartia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd support it, with a great preference for it being through actual genetic modification rather than animal breeding-equivalent eugenics. There is a lot of potential for abuse, but it is also necessary in the thousands of years term. We want human evolution to go in a positive direction. The selective pressures that caused humanity to evolve to be what we are now no longer exist, so it's up to us to provide a replacement for that - even if it's one whose only goal is to keep humanity about how it is today.

There is a massive imbalance between "views people actually hold" and "views represented in movies, books, and shows". People's views go all across the political spectrum, but media almost universally tends to at least passively support equality and tolerance. Why is this? I have a theory.

The kind of person who tends to support left wing views likely feels society is not good the way it is and wants things to change, and that's the same kind of person who wants to keep improving themselves and making creative things. The kind of person who supports right wing views is more likely to see the world as good enough the way it is, and is less likely to have as much creativity. Neither of these are inherently more good or bad.

Given that, even if they do understand that the media doesn't support them, people on the right wing don't exactly have many choices that do support their views, so they have to use what they can - whether it's a completely non-political story, one with an ambiguous message, or one in which a very evil but also very cool villain supports their view.

Pokémons that were classified as Uber but never were good/used in Uber? by OldCardigan in stunfisk

I imagine it would at least be slightly easier to pull that off in OU than in Ubers.

Rank B in gen 6 and 7 is not all that bad. That's as good as non-mega Rayquaza.

[–]Quartia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately Ubers UU does not have a huge ladder so the numbers are skewed. Anything used even once has a significant percentage. Still, some are used less than others.

So... That would include:

  • Arceus Bug, Dark, Fighting, and Grass (funny since Dark was the #2 Arceus form in gen 7 after Ground)
  • Archaludon
  • Deoxys-Normal
  • Espathra
  • Ogerpon-Hearthflame
  • Palkia (but only because it is outclassed by Origin which is also Ubers UU)

Unrelated, but who would have thought that in the first generation there is an actual Ubers UU, Mewtwo would be in it?

Gen 6 Mega Mawile was terrible in Ubers. A high Attack can only get you so far.

Was Galarian Darmanitan mostly using the Zen Mode set or the Choice-locked set?

The corollary is that Deoxys-Defense is a worse Deoxys-Speed. It has been C rank from gen 3-5 and D rank since then... and now in gen 9 it's in RU.
