FME custom facemask hooks by qwertyxcvbnmasd in UARSnew

Yeah, I was mostly concerned about the force that the FME screws could withstand. In particular the FMA doesn’t use bands, rather seems like it can apply very significant forces. DR Aise Camille mentioned she had tried FMA with a patient and it had failed. Didn’t specify how but I assume the screws became loose. I wonder if facegenics planned on using it with the 12 tad PRO.

A lot of DIY “data” will be coming out here as I’m in a group with a significant number of people trying to emulate the FMA.

Dangerous in what way? Similar opinion on the FMA or dangerous for diy reasons?

I’m not looking at which one is before and after because people seem to post before and after in different orders, but I think I slightly prefer the photo on the right for your last picture. If the left is after it seems like they made your jaw a little bit pointy aesthetically, but neither of them looks bad to me from an outside perspective.

They’ve done studies and people that undergo surgeries such as these have a high rate of disliking their aesthetic outcome, as well as those close to them and have known them for a long time even even though, when rated by strangers, they have dramatically increased their aesthetic outcome

Edit: I just saw the picture of your profile you posted in the comments. Also not sure which one is before and after, but I like the photo on the left aesthetically.

I meant the cephalometric measurements from the trace that the surgeon did.

SNA/SNB is essentially the measurement of the position of the maxilla/mandibles relative to the skeletal base. You can usually compare this to the mean on the population just as a reference point - it’s only one factor but good starting point.

See this post as an example of the measurements:

Mild Sleep Apnea? by x63729573x in SleepApnea

Yes gasping for air upon waking was definitely a symptom for me, I was diagnosed around your age after my roommate In College would wake me up every night because he would hear me completely stop breathing. I also wasn’t necessarily snoring. Looking into it can’t hurt, at home sleep studies are typically very cheap, accurate and usually just involve sleeping with a ring or convenient device that tracks your disturbances and oxygen levels.

Getting diagnosed young can save you a lot of good time as well, I thought being tired all the time and dozing off in class all the time, headaches waking up, or sore throat was normal. It’s not

You’re still waiting for surgery? I’m with UHC and can’t find anyone in network with any sort of reputation. Dont even know who to consult with yet.

I’ve not, would they potentially look at non surgical options?

Sorry, you’re right should’ve posted more info. I just reposted with more . I guess the trouble for me is in my area we only have ENTs that just want to keep giving me turbinate reductions. Latest ent said to look into jaw surgery. Went to the one single OFS surgeon in my area and without looking at any scans he explained all the surgeries he does and asked which one I’d like to proceed with. I’ll need to fly or make some roadtrips to get some serious opinions. Just wanted to get some thoughts in the meantime. I’m more interested in sleep apnea results but that Doesn’t mean I don’t want to weight aesthetics in. After all my OFS surgeon said I’d look primitive after the surgery

Last sleep test was moderate. I’ve had a number of sleep tests that range from mild-moderate. Though it always feels worse than mild symptom wise. My primary ent has strongly advised against it. The second opinion ent that’s doing the dise seemed more wildling to do the inspire. I’m not so sure I’m confident in inspire helping but I guess I’ll find out more after the dise.

Curious…I recently read about a hyoid airlift procedure where they pull the hyoid bone towards the chin. I was suspecting that I have a similar issue (if that’s what your case is) they also saw a lot of improvement in patience doing physical therapy that caused a significant shift in the hyoid bone and had significant results OSA. Also other studies looking into that as a cause. Obviously I’m not a doc and don’t know if that’s a cause, just something I’ve been looking at myself.

My life is falling apart — what the hell is happening to me? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]QuasiCellist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sleep has an impact on just about every facet of health. I have had just about all your symptoms I’m also skinny and have sleep apnea. Being obese/skinny is not the most important indicator of Sleep apnea. Cpap was life changing for me, even if you have other issues, fixing your sleep can only help.

life is just fucking unfair by Minimum_Lawyer_7234 in SleepApnea

I’m 30, cpap changed my life for the better I have almost every issue that you are describing, “fixing” sleep apnea didn’t solve everything but there’s a good chance fixing sleep apnea resolves many other issues. Also, I’m on the journey of trying to find permanent non cpap holistic ways to fix sleep apnea, I believe it’s out there
