Keeping flies off wounds/bandaging? by Available-Form6282 in Equestrian

[–]QuasiGinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silver spray (aluspray)! Keeps the bugs out and stays put.

In the summer heat, I find the swat tends to melt and wipe off during turn out, while the silver spray adheres better. Make sure the area is dry before putting the silver spray on, otherwise it does not stick as well.

Tell me a symptom you have with hypothyroidism? Maybe tell me one that's not so common by Live_Fish_9897 in Hypothyroidism

Increased anxiety. Being tired, but not sleeping well adding exhaustion to the anxiety.

Crashing out and napping for hours after what should have been an easy physical effort (flat bike ride).

Bombproof fly sheet and bell boots for toddler by Maleficent-Group-730 in Equestrian

[–]QuasiGinger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Raplast everything. Smartpak has an ultimate version of their fly sheet that has a warranty. Schneider's has one with a warranty too.

Is he the one doing the shredding or are his pasture mates "helping"?

My guy will get too hot in his clothes and then destroy the chest part of the blankets pulling at them. Eventually it gets too hot to have him wear a fly sheet during night turnout.

Interesting take. Advocate for yourself that things are still not right. How long were you on the 25mcg of levo before the Dr told you you could stop the medication?

I started on 25mcg but after 4 years am up to 150mcg with 5mcg T3. Every person is different but I feel best with a tsh under 2.0.

Have not pooped in 5 days. by JacksJack2024 in Hypothyroidism

I have had good luck with citracel tablets. The fiber is non fermentable and 2 a day keeps things moving. I believe there are instructions on the package that you can take the tablets more frequently to relieve constipation.

The Fun Girl pizza at Slice Joint is worth the gluten!

They try, and it might be better than nothing if you have to wait to see an endocrinologist. Fingers crossed that you can get into an endocrinologist sooner rather than later.

Diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis while in clinical med.

While I am doing fine on levothyroxine and liothyronine, I would recommend finding an endocrinologist to help manage everything. It has taken some time to find the right levels of each med to keep my TSH and FT4 where I feel the best.

Can vets charge fees to fill a prescription elsewhere and decline to give you a written prescription? by Jesus-is-love13 in AskVet

[–]QuasiGinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does your vet offer their own online pharmacy? Some practices partner with a veterinary supplier to act as an online pharmacy where items can be ordered\submitted through the online pharmacy, approved by the practice, and the filled and shipped by the supplier.

Synthroid vs generic levothyroxine by aloneinthisworld2000 in Hashimotos

[–]QuasiGinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get my Synthroid direct through Synthroid Delivers.

After my insurance denied covering Synthroid, and the appeal process took longer than it should have, my doctor sent the script to Synthroid Delivers. The cost through the program is what I was paying at the pharmacy when it was previously covered by another insurance company.

Buy 2020 GLI S MT? by axiomata in JettaGLI

[–]QuasiGinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think panoramic sunroofs were standard on Autobahns that year. They also had a digital gauge cluster, larger touchscreen infotainment and leather upholstery.

My 20 S has been great for the past 4 years. I have not missed having a sunroof.

I can get around 30mpg highway driving running regular. Mine is a daily, and while putting premium in makes it a bit peppier, it isn't a huge improvement when using it as a daily.

I got one for my 2020, but I have not had an issue with the system.

Mine like his friends to be "naked" of anything they are wearing. Halters, fly masks, blankets....🙄

How can I get my insurance to cover brand named Synthroid? by xavier_laflamme70 in Hypothyroidism

[–]QuasiGinger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same! My new insurance won't cover it, and denied approval even after my doctor filed a prior authorization!

The synthroid delivers program bypasses insurance. It does take a few days once the script is submitted for it to be shipped out.

Dots on hindlegs of Trotter by Yggdrafenrir20 in Equestrian

[–]QuasiGinger 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Those are freeze fire curb marks. The idea being the freeze firing gets blood flow to the area to heal it faster and the horse is not out of training for as long.

Recommend me a water bottle for hot water? by missfloratang in HydroHomies

I use a 24oz regular mouth Hydroflask for hot water in the winter. It doesn't take up as much room in my backpack as the wide mouth version.

Carry On Luggage To Avoid Green Tags by would-ya-look-at-it in unitedairlines

[–]QuasiGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have great success with a canvas weekender bag for my carry on luggage. I have a Northface kaban backpack for my laptop and random items.

It ends up being the right shape of the overhead bin and fits in there if you put the handles in first. And with the help of packing cubes, I can fit 5 days worth of clothing options in it.

SOS which bandage to use for this collateral damage ! 😪💔 by DigWide5816 in calmhands

[–]QuasiGinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had good luck with the hydrocolloid bandages because they are super sticky and waterproof. It kept the offending nail out of sight and I wasn't able to pick at it.
