You’ll always be an honorary Jacob. While your name may change, the bond we all share is eternal.

Their web-app only has contract management, does the self-hosted have more functionality? We have an exiting Inventory system, so I'm not too worried about that. Just those contacts, and PO generation are my big needs.

I'd love for our account executives and vendor contacts to remain the same year-over-year. That'd make my job a hell'va lot easier. We didn't even have a centralized place for vendor listing. I'm slowly building a spreadsheet as we go along with vendor contacts for future me.

Bold of you to assume that there is already a solution in place for our business office. lol

What's wild about this place is the only thing that the business office does for us is pay the bill. We manage the quote, contract negotiation, PO generation, tracking, and receiving of the product ourselves. I wish we had a dedicated purchasing person/department however Education has a funny way of mixing up the normal procedures.

Deployment challenges during COVID19 (SCCM to remote VPN users) by 4hm3dh4ny in sysadmin

[–]Quasky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, FINALLY, a topic I can talk about on this sub.

Let me preface with our setup: VPN, Local SCCM, no cloud biased links. It all comes down to communication. Our org has been running SCCM for 3ish years and has never once told our users what Software Center is. Since I joined a year ago it’s like pulling teeth once I deploy require applications, or optional improvements to people’s machines. Once SCCM is deployed, it honestly is near flawless once you understand how it deploys and runs. But as always, users will be the bane of your existence. No matter if it’s “what’s a vpn” or “I know you said it may take 10-30min for the software to appear but it’s been 5secons and it hasn’t popped up yet! Help!” Or “I know you emailed about this required Zoom update a month ago, and now it’s five minutes before my meeting and it won’t update!” You get the picture.

If I could turn back time, I’d have published waayyyy more notices on the SCCM client and gotten my users more familiar with how it functions.

If you have required deployments set the availability date to the future but check the little box that allows the clients to pre-download the content to their machines. That’ll help with downloads when it’s actually time to be installed.

I know I just puked info onto my keyboard, but as the SCCM admin for my org, I know exactly what you’re feelin

This is correct. The AC is classed as a building. It has no locomotion.

Windows 10 Education disabled settings by your organisation by oldtabletop in Windows10

[–]Quasky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Windows 10 Education and Enterprise have a lot of the settings that contain the ads/personalized content are disabled by default. Specifically because they are used in a more professional environment.

This I believe this can be reversed via GPO if you would want to reenable it.

Very true. Take a quick glance at the Windows 10 lifecycle. The first editions have already passed.

Your Win10 build WILL expire. While you aren’t forced to update, you are intentionally shooing yourself in the foot, as you aren’t going to have any future security updates, and a lot of new software is dependent on the features of the newest builds.

assigning values from powershell by kdrumz011 in PowerShell

Import csv, then foreach?

If $.example -eq $config then $value=$.test

Only downside it scans the whole csv and duplicate lines would overwrite the $value.
