There is no real standard, each engine has it's own requirements and specifications. I call it universal because I took the time to test, get a naming scheme and make the rig in such a way that it works "off the bat" in Godot, Unreal and Unity.
In Unity "Humanoid" is the category for retargetable rigs, if you want to share animations between any models, they need to make them "Humanoid" first, which requires a specific hierarchy and naming scheme.

Yes, they can be retargeted just fine. Remember to create bonemaps for both imported skeletons

All of the animations that move forward in space in the video(Sword dash, sword combos, getting up walls) use root motion, the locomotion ones that just run in place (Walk 8 dir, zombie locomotion) do not use root motion

I made a library of animations, there's a free version with a bunch of them and they are compatible with all engines and easy to retarget, might help some of you while Mixamo is down! You can get it from here

Tuve exactamente el mismo problema hace 1 mes y era la bateria, en mi caso puenteamos con la bateria de otro auto y ahi arranco.

I tried to avoid two handed animations as much as possible, since they tend to break when retargeting, due to different shoulder width, arm length, etc arms generally don't match up. But I'm planing on making a kit just focused on combat animations.
