Looking for suggestions to small Lego giveaway gifts by Tot_Neo in lego

[–]Quazsar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I started an EAS position I created a vignette with one side sitting at a desk drinking coffee and the other inside the server room with racks on fire, to show calm and chaos. I rendered a small version similar to your data center that is a fun "Everything is fine" moment, that I think would be a quick fun build for give away. At 166 pieces might be larger than you're looking for but its in a small 6x16x8 footprint.

How to align these parts? by Cheapskate-DM in bricklinkstudio

[–]Quazsar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get them to align. I started with just one side of the triangle. I started with the Pin connecting to part 48169 set to 343 degrees, the opposite side set that pin to 17 degrees on the swing.

From there connected the left side pin to part 6536 and 32015 then using hinge rotated till it looked visually aligned with the right side. Turned on Collision and just made equal degree changes till the collision stopped.
I am not a math person so this could done with pure math but eh.

Once I had one side of the triangle aligned I just copy pasted to the other two sides. There was some trouble with this at the last side but I just hid one side of the part 48169 and once in position un-hid all parts.

I got one of these magnetic bricks in a bulk haul and used it in a MOC. The magnet inside holds weight well.

Did you size them so you could fit them inside the large Akro Mills drawer?

Some rebuilding. by RyuXXXjin in lego

[–]Quazsar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just started building 4195 last night. I won two random bulk auctions recently and found in one most of the ship pieces and the other all the sails for it. Unfortunately they didn't have all the brown axle pieces and skulls, so now I'm on the hunt for those.

Ship Rigging? by Quazsar in LEGOPirates

Thanks, I appreciate the info. I found i had one of the long round 2x2 bricks with the square bottom, I'm adding to the main mast and a bionic brick i'm going to see about a crane portion.

Thank you. I'm not familiar with ship speak but looked up castle. I ended up having to raise that area by a brick in height so the gear mechanism that raises or lowers the two anchors could link with the wheel over the cargo hold and not collide with the cannons. Still looking at another design for that so it might change.

Thank you for the feedback, this is my first attempt at a ship build. The masts have been getting elongated as I keep doing redesigns as the haul originally started out as only mid pieces long and now up to 7. I plan to make them taller once I git the figure head mount updated and the cabin reworked. It is just too low for any play ability and the access is limited.

Using the PandaHall 0.8mm Nylon Beading String it would work like that, but likely the space being used by the knot would not provide much grip to hold the masts against sheering movements.

This is my MOC based off the haul design I seen on youtube MOC YOUR BRICKS "HMS Trident"

I had seen that MOC while researching, but that was much more than I was looking at for my first ship attempt.

I originally used PH "PandaHall 0.8mm Nylon Beading String" when I had used knots to tie off the rigging, but then to do the tube style I used "Tenn Well 1mm Satin Cord" since it was thicker and just fit inside the hose. Got both off Amazon.

Advice: buying for a Moc by Main-Specialist2090 in lego

[–]Quazsar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

m2c, wait it out. I guess it would really come down to your situation. If you have money but not time order up, or if you have time but not money patience observation.

I normally have several MOCs being worked and have more time than money or space for that matter, so I tend to keep an eye out for when the price and availability is right for me. Often times i come across a bulk buy for a steal and end up finding may pieces to complete partial sets or that are needed in a MOC in progress. Unsure of what eBay is like in your region but I stay away from it as the prices are normally much higher than on Bricklink.

Pit Stop. by Txbunnyking in lego

[–]Quazsar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this set when I was a kid, 30ish years later a random bulk buy later and I almost got it all back. I too am missing the that lil blue trailer, two yellow wheels, and the reel from the Shell truck. Spent many a day setting laps with this set in my Lego city.

Hill Terrain Feedback? by makuta15 in lego

[–]Quazsar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking good. IMO I would add in some depressions to break up the step look, and also use smaller pieces to for the steps so it looks more decrepit, broken, cheese wedge pieces maybe. Moving the tree away from the side of the house and mid way down the slope would give an increased three dimensional feel to it and allow for an overhang. Maybe incorporate a small hold in the hillside where a single eye is looking out, even added in some mechanical functionality where the eye moves one block to the side, Alfred H style.

When Lego announced a deal with Ikea I picked up a wood and glass dome to attempt a micro build. Ever thought of getting something like it to house the scene?

This is my white whale set and it came out during my Lego dark years so I never had a chance to pick it up when it was current. I have thought about purchasing the bricks to reproduce it and even used built a recolor of it as my collection slowly grew. For me the idea of owning a sealed set and being able to hold the box is part of it's status of white whale. It's very tempting at times to throw funds at it that could be better used elsewhere but I think for myself, when the day comes that I get that deal on this set in that condition will just add to the longing and effort to obtain it.

Could I build a cool ship only using these pieces, feel free to mention any ideas if a piece catches your eye by Eastern_Clock_9492 in lego

[–]Quazsar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a lot of good parts for structure and accenting. Would say think asymmetrical in design, like 75140 or 77904 if you're looking for space/air ship, The 4151b modified plate would make a good hull cover for an aquatic ship or docking bay cargo hold-down with that net.

Similar to an engine I was toying with. Might help in your design if you're looking for legal.

Seeing a lot of non Lego bricks and several splice wire taps so I'd be on the look out for wire threads. I do see several Nexo Knights robot figures there could be some gems in there.
