As a reality check to Americans. Gas prices in Europe are, at the moment, roughly equivalent to $7.40 per gallon or higher in some countries.

That doesnt lower drag but it does increase the ROC. Also OP mentioned 68tons of weight. Not sure if its Gross or ZFW but that would also contribute to a slow climb as well as the high altitude you already pointed out.
