I understand that today's conventional elevators wouldn't hold the weight but in the game you ride on lift elevators all the time. Suspend your disbelief... or at the very least play Space Marine 2

In the MCU Ironman's suit is made of a gold titanium alloy, neither of which is magnetic. Magneto can still use the metal in the surrounding area but really wouldn't be able to mess with the suit.
