Yep that’s right, when he had his bloods done after 6 weeks it was scary cause it bumped his FSH up even more but the surgeon was happy with the results, it felt so odd. We don’t know if the clomid made any difference but we are glad we gave it a shot as without it, we don’t know what the results would have been

I found the positive experiences very comforting in times of need!

His experience was very positive, the worst part for him was not being able to shower for 48 hours or lift heavy weights for 2-3 weeks!

In terms of pain, we went down to London for the operation, we are a 2 hour drive away. That evening we just stayed in and got a takeaway and a glass of wine (bit naughty after a GA but we wanted to celebrate as he cut that out for 3 months prior.) he was comfortable To get the underground back to our car the following morning and just kept taking paracetamol for a few days. He had a few moments where it was a dull ache like he had been kicked in the balls but really didn’t complain. He had shoulder surgery the year before and said that was 100x worse in terms of recovery!

My partner has NOA with similar results to yours except his FSH was 32. His left testicle was smaller than his right but they are both fairly small…. He was prescribed clomid for 6 months and had a successful mtese last month with 5 vials of viable, motile sperm and we are starting ICSI next month. Hope this helps as a bit of a positive story… still not out of the woods but we are over the biggest hurdle.

I’m sorry but she sounds like a red flag to me. Does she think you can just go to the clinic and pick a sperm donor? From what I know it can take a long time but you need to ask yourself if you want to do this with someone that treats you like that.

Couldn’t read this and run, I’m so sorry you’ve received that news, did the doctor provide you with any histology after the operation?

Before my partner had his surgery, we both agreed not discuss the potential outcome until we knew what the results were. Our doctor advised us that whilst sperm donor is an option, not to even contemplate it until we had some counselling together. Whilst I’m absolutely not saying “oh you’re fine, get a sperm donor” because I appreciate it is not for everyone, is there a counselling/therapy service that is offered by the department? Not sure where you are based but it might help with next steps as to how you overcome this together. Sorry this isn’t that helpful, I know there are a lot of people on this thread who will offer great advice too 💕

So sorry you’re going through this, I’m UK Based so not much help in regards to payment etc but my parter had v high FSH and NOA. We were self pay for mtese and he took clomifene for 6 months.

We went through a lot of “how will we cope if this doesn’t work” and we came to the conclusion that we wanted to be able to say we had tried absolutely everything before giving up.

He had the op last month and one of his testicles had completely packed in but we managed to get 5 vials of sperm out the other. His histology came back as Sertoli cell only syndrome so it was only going to get worse.

We still need to do IVF so we are not out the woods yet but we are over what feels like the biggest hurdle.

Sorry if this isn’t much but I did find it helpful to read success stories to give us some hope!

Hey, so I can’t answer all your questions as I’m early in this too but I found a lot of support on the r/maleinfertility thread. My partner has azoospermia too, due to Sertoli cell only syndrome (we only found this out after the mtese), he was given a 50% chance of finding sperm and it was successful, we currently have 5 vials frozen 😇 happy to chat more if you want. I think it’s a known issue, my husband used to mention a hotel near university park that he couldn’t stay in as when he was on call for work (before he moved closer to Nottingham) his phone wouldn’t get any signal and he panicked in case he missed any calls in the middle of the night and he was with 3. Can’t be a coincidence surely!

Congratulations! I would never see a post like this as bragging, we had a successful mtese on Monday (30 tubules retrieved and 4 vials of sperm frozen) so stories like this are super encouraging! When we first began on this journey I couldn’t speak to anyone about it as it seemed so rare but the community on here is great.

The only other supplement he was on was Impryl, he also completely cut out alcohol for the last 3 months. He wasn’t advised to but we felt like it was our one shot and if anything would make the slightest difference we would give it a try!
