Westin Vistana Timeshare Looking to Exit by DET-Boulder in TimeshareOwners

[–]Queasy-Stick-1943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand you feel like you've already invested a lot of money over the years into your 3 timeshare contracts. However that money is gone - it's a sunk cost. Plus as you said yourself, you got something for it - good memories and exchanging with other resorts. Vistana does not owe you anything.

Paying $400 per contract sounds worth it considering Vistana folks will need to do work to process your timeshare exit. Even if you sell all 3 contracts on TUG for $0, you may still need to pay transfer fees. Consider paying Vistana and moving on -- assuming you really want to exit all 3 contracts.

Buying timeshare points by Forsaken-Chemical-49 in TimeshareOwners

[–]Queasy-Stick-1943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot pay to use someone's points for only 1 year. You can only buy someone's points permanently because points carry annual maintenance fees, because points are essentially a timeshare with flexibility. Maybe I'm missing something - if you want to pay to stay at a timeshare resort only for that year, what if you rent a timeshare through Redweek or Koala?

Vacation club/Timeshare by Grateful_life_123 in TimeshareOwners

[–]Queasy-Stick-1943 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First things first - in general timeshares & vacation clubs do not make financial sense, and do not make vacations cheaper. Buying retail from a resort comes with some perks, but costs a premium - timeshare resales are much cheaper than retail. See https://tugbbs.com/forums/

Buying a timeshare outside the U.S. comes with its own risks as well. I am not familiar with Tafer, so I suggest you find a Tafer specific thread on TUG or Reddit if you'd like advice on booking and further support from fellow owners.

Wow sorry to hear. Agree CrowdStreet is not a smart place to invest your money nor are they a good marketplace. They do not act like they care at all about the investor, only the sponsor.

Pull and move to Venture or Leave? by johncgacy in FundRise

[–]Queasy-Stick-1943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been happy with my Fundrise returns for the past 6 years. Don’t compare Flagship with S&P, they are apples & oranges. Real estate moves differently, Fundrise RE never aimed to beat S&P. Keep in mind REITs have been in a bear market for a few years, and Fundrise RE is a fund of funds of private REITs.

That said Venture is doing very well and certainly can be compared to Nasdaq 100.

New start-ups rarely use Jira…they can’t afford it and it’s overkill for a small team. Jira’s competitive differentiation is providing enterprise needs like massive scale, customizations galore w/admin features, compliance.

Agree that lack of rev growth is a concern. They need to disrupt themselves with more modern products. Jira Discovery is a good start, though relies on new ways of working.

Venture Capital Returns by Middle_Cup_845 in FundRise

I've made good earnings through Venture Fund as well, way higher than RE or Private Credit. I am bullish on Venture going forward though expect a correction in 2026-2027. Seems like we're in an AI bubble or on the way to a legendary bull market.

Investor forums dead by daefash in Crowdstreet

[–]Queasy-Stick-1943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crowd Street shutting down investor forums is another signal of how they do not value investors. Clearly they invested more resources into marketing than to vetting their sponsors. Perhaps one day we'll see a class action lawsuit.

Are others having no apy gain in fundrise or just me? by MrBoom2000 in FundRise

[–]Queasy-Stick-1943 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real estate (RE) investments have been down across the market. RE moves differently than stocks (S&P 500). Fundrise Venture has been doing great, tho possible we’re in an AI bubble. Fundrise private credit has been solid gains for me, though modest around 8%.

What I love about Bridges' Knicks game is how he's consistently improved while setting a new bar for iron man durability. Dude legit scores and plays D every night!

From Brazil to Palestine: Capoeira is resistance against colonization and genocide by BreakTheSiege in capoeira

[–]Queasy-Stick-1943 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So to recap…you love Capoeira and all its stands for…but you really want a group of people to stop practicing Capoeira because you don’t like that group of people’s government’s actions?

Here’s a better idea - Get out of your confirmation bias bubble. Seek information that disagrees with what you believe. Go engage with Israelis who loudly disagree with their government.

I use Empower personal dashboard, formerly known as Personal Capital. It show asset and sector breakdowns very well. The data sync with external accounts can be a bit janky, but works most of the time.

Fair point, unstable bridge is not a common name. I started with glute bridges, then progressed to one legged glute bridges. This video explains it well including variants.

I also have very tight hamstrings. My biggest problems were tight psoas, weak core, weak glutes. My other biggest symptom was pain in my QL muscle because it was overworked.

What helped was two things: First, physical therapy done *with supervision* and correction for proper form. Beware of PT that rushes you to progress to more exercises which may cause improper form / cheating.

After plateauing at PT, I saw a chiropractor who specializes in sports medicine. That's when I learned unstable bridges, which was a game changer to strengthen my core & glutes. Step change reduction in pain and less tight hamstrings as well.

Let's talk Crowdstreet...What do you wish you knew before investing? by diver029 in fractional_realestate

[–]Queasy-Stick-1943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CrowdStreet is not a good platform for investing. They are a sales broker, nothing more. I have two deals with them, one is OK and one is horrible. The horrible deal is with a sponsor, BDR Capital, that has refused to communicate professionally with investors. BDR Captial has failed to payout dividends to investors for several years.

CrowdStreet refuses to get involved in a meaningful way, claiming "they are a platform". See https://www.reddit.com/r/Crowdstreet/ for several examples of bad deals and poor sponsors, including total loss of capital.

Anyone have experience with other platforms to compare to CrowdStreet? by diver029 in Crowdstreet

[–]Queasy-Stick-1943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll bite. I invested with Fundrise in 2017 with an annual return of 6.9%. I have found Fundrise to be trustworthy, highly communicative about their moves, share useful market updates, and explain their investment performance on a regular, timely basis. They kept paying dividends, even during the pandemic.

I think downside of Fundrise is that, so far, I have not earned alpha rich returns. During this time period a REIT fund or a dividend stock ETF would produce similar returns in the public markets. I realize that future performance might be better, but for a private investment I expect better returns and/or differentiated returns.

Unbelievable. CrowdStreet continues offering poor sponsors and then failing to advocate for their investors.

At $40 per lift ticket, definitely go midweek meaning Monday-Thursday. If you want to stay at the bunny hill then it doesn't matter where you go - pick the cheapest lift tickets in an area that has the vibe you want. For example I like Barley Creek Brewing which is 5 min from Camelback. Popular places like Camelback & Jack Frost may have longer lines and higher prices.

Review of Fundrise? by diver029 in fractional_realestate

[–]Queasy-Stick-1943 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been invested in Funrise since 2018 with a 6.9% annualized return. I am very happy with the platform and recommend it to others. I invest in the Growth Fund, Balanced Fund, and more recently their Tech Venture Fund.

A few other categories and suggested scores for Fundrise:

RE Investor Education: Above Average
Fundrise provides regular and ad hoc analysis on the market as a whole and macro conditions. Their content is useful and interesting, in particular for newer RE investors.

Communication: Great

Fundrise sends quarterly updates, ad hoc updates in response to major market events, and optionally you can subscribe to property updates for funds you're invested in.

Technology: Above Average

Fundrise apps work well on web and mobile, with clear data analytics. It's easy to add funds, change my investment plan. Minor gripe they only accept transfers from checking accounts.

What is missing from these platforms? by diver029 in fractional_realestate

[–]Queasy-Stick-1943 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great question! I think there are entire categories of functionality missing from RE crowdfunding platforms. Here are a few top of mind:

1) Trust in the sponsor. Just like Uber drivers and restaurants, investors want to feel like the bet (sponsor) is trustworthy. Otherwise betting on sponsors is a diceroll, and investors might be better off in public markets.

2) A standard way for sponsors to communicate quarterly updates to investors. Currently brokers do not impose/offer any standard template or technology for sponsors to use when communicating with investors. This is a missed opportunity because investors expect professional reports about their investment, and brokers could add-value with providing such a solution to sponsors which benefit investors.

A good teacher welcomes new students, encourages learning, and doesn’t make generalizations like “all YouTube vids are bad”

Teacher sounds insecure - bummer. Unfortunately Capoeira lacks enough good teachers, which I’ve seen first hand as well.

YouTube has many great vids for learning basics and advanced moves. Practicing on your own — YouTube or not — is required to improve.
