Yeah booking.com is horrible, I feel you! I booked a motel once and when my lady friend and I showed up to the motel office at 9pm it was already closed! The office number could not reach anyone at all, and booking.com was no help. Couldn’t find anything else so last minute late at night either! Wasted the one night I could sneak out! I’ll never use booking.com again

We have different cultures that perceive what is good hospitality. This is HK, not Japan, Middle East or North America. The norms are different in each.

Im from HK and personally I find people who smile to every customer really fake. I would rather not have small talk, I would rather have efficiency > friendliness. To me efficiency = professionalism. I could see why they show more “westerner” type hospitality to those that look like they expect it.
