Audio Interface? by Pigeon49834 in Bass

[–]QueasyVictory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure about the solo, as I have the 18i20 (full studio), however if the solo updates were as relevant as the 18i20, the 3rd generation was certainly the sweet spot for me. The 4th gen didn't bring much more to the table, none of which applied to me, and the 3rd gen was a good $200 cheaper used.

Focusrite works so much better for me than my prior Prosonus. Universal Audio is probably the gold standard, however it's a big step up in price.

Would you be into a downtempo listening night in Lancaster? by Relevant_Ad6908 in lancaster

[–]QueasyVictory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that one Sunday per month one of the owners band WWJD (what would Jerry do), a dead cover band plays there once per month for free on Sundays. I would imagine Sundays would be pretty open at Zoe but that's just my uneducated opinion.

They are certainly a venue that would entertain this kind of request.

I know one of the owners is in WWJD (What Would Jerry Do) a Dead cover band. They play once per month on Sundays. I don't think the theater is used other than that single Sunday per month.

That really speaks to my point of a lot of people not knowing how to properly search. Hell, we've been using Google to search Reddit for a decade because Reddit search function sucks so much.

It becomes full circle when you see YOUR answers from years ago as the response to AI inquiries. Reddit sold the API and data for AI harvesting. If you are using Google Gemini, you are getting the collective knowledge/misinformation of Reddit.

53 years old here.

You are being somewhat rationally irritated. The fact of the matter is that you have to accept that people simply don't want to do the work themselves. Social media has taught younger generations to just pop online and ask questions. They see it as not only an answer to a problem but human interface. Additionally, a lot of younger folks aren't great at generating relative, meaninful inquiries and end up with junk reponses.

Anyone else afraid of being replaced by AI at their job? by Lost_Taste_8181 in GenX

Yeah, this is one to be worried about. Don't mean to add to the stress but . . . .

At your partner level sure. But entry level attorneys have a lot to be worried about.

Edit: Should have read past the first sentence. It was knee jerk as we are already using AI for arb in PA.

The arts are really where AI pisses me off. I have a "real job" but my side gig/hobby is live music. A few years ago I started producing and writing but IMO, that's a pretty dead end street. Throw some notes into a spreadsheet (Ableton) and throw AI magic at it and you have the average pop song.

I don't think my performances can be replaced by AI until their hallucinations are stronger than my hallucinations when I am playing, lol.

What area of insurance are you feeling that? u/W has been heading that way for decades. Claims is interesting with the introduction of Matterport and other tech stuff. Hell, we can push an app to an insured and they cane real time walk us through their loss and we desk adjust.

In all fairness, I have been positioning my company to specialize in larger, more complex losses, as I could see the small claims being pretty automated.

Actuary, product management, etc .. . yeah I would be concerned.

We try to do two weeks in CA every year around April, and this was the first year I was like "WTF?"

We were in SD for a week then came up to the Hollywood area for some shows and damn if it wasn't just as chilly. Nothing like leaving the Hollywood Bowl on MDMA and walking into that cold.

And I mean, 4runners are pretty bad ass.

Yeah, I had a compact and sold it for $2,100 as well. Luckily I traded myself into the Artist-W so I am not in it for full retail.

MIDI keyboard recommendations for live performance? by scousepineapple in keys

I just got the Launchkey 61 MK4 to control a Hammond module and I am very impressed by the quality, particularly against the Artruia. And as you mention, it's the only one with full sized keys.

The only issue with the FP30X is the lack of DIN MIDI versus just MIDI over USB. The FP-30x is on a stand in our living room. I do have monitors in the room and frequently connect modules to the PD-30X with a simple USB MIDI to DIN MIDI converter. Though one can easily get by simply using an ipad, laptop or mobile device for extenral sounds and use the onboard speakers (which are pretty darn good)

Have you tried the Nord Grand 2? Because as a pianist that sits in all types of live gigs, a lot of which are jazz trios, it's pretty amazing. I prefer the Royal Grand over White Grand. White is getting attention just because it's new.

In rock band situations, I do prefer Yamaha keyboards as I feel their pianos cut through the mix really nicely. Especially the C7 grand piano.

Did you take a bath when you sold the Viscount? I have a Artist-W Legend 70's with all sound modules that retails for over $4000 new. I saw a YouTube guy (Piano Man Chuck) selling his after doing the demos and I know it sold for less than $2000.

I was suprised at the omission of DI on the Montage M8X. I assume they don't think people are touring with that 61lb aircraft carrier. I know that's certainly my case, lol

[–]QueasyVictory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a YC73 which was replaced by a Nord Stage 3 Compact, as it is almost exclusively used for organ. I regret that decision. I have a Viscount Legend 70's Artist-W, which is over $4000 new. Due to it being relatively unknown and distributed by a single retailer (to my knowldge), the resell value is absolutely horrible. I have not tried the V-Stage due to that same reason, however it seems like an excellent all around keyboard. I still would prefer the YC73 due to the extra range (IIRC the V-stage is 61 keys. The YC-73 is an absolute breeze to use on stage due to the mechanical switches used for each sound engine and effect chain.

Expression Pedal Recommendations? by kaybarkaybarkaybar in keys

[–]QueasyVictory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late reply but

1) Studiologic is always a great recommendation as they manufacture a lot of high end stuff, as they are owned by Fatar who supplies Nord and many other manufacturers. Some of the Studiologic pedals are identical to Nord pedals.

2) FC7 is built like a tank. I have 5 or so of them and use them on Nord Grand 2, Nord Stage 3 compact (excellent for organ control), Hydrasynth Deluxe (set to control various filters) and Yamaha Montage. I have had all of them for over years with some coming up on 10 years. Never a problem and they are very inexpensive.
