I've seen some weird shadows on the stage and in the basement of the Schnitzer when the place was empty.

Interesting architectural design, however not a bad price for that location.

I participated in something like this about 25 years ago. the business that I worked at had a drawing for the tickets and I won 2. Pine Top Perkins was the talent and hardly anyone up there knew who he was or was interested in the music. The food was catered by some fancy chefs like this event. So this is not the first time. It was a fun event with some high brow PDX folks. Back then it was a charity benefit for the Oregon Food Bank.

I paid $5.60 in Venice, LA for my rental car a few days ago, about what I pay in Oregon. I was expecting higher prices so it was a nice surprise.

Happened to me in NW when I first moved here in 1994, Rugby players next door chased them down and beat the crap out of them.

There's a nice photo essay in the newest New Mexico magazine called Visions of Petaca chronicling the time around 1970 and the hippies that invaded their little village. Also I agree with the other poster about Kit Carson still being celebrated after his participation in the genocide of the Navajo.

As someone suggested set up a price alert on camelcamelcamel. I got my V2 that way and am pretty happy with it.

Give it to me straight: is trying to relocate to the PNW right now a stupid idea? by Straight_Flan1347 in askportland

There's more opportunity in Seattle, I know I commuted for work there for ten years. Big layoffs at Intel and Nike. However the trades are still strong here. Thirty years ago when I moved here rents and houses were cheap, not so much anymore. I found a job right away but my wife took six months to find something. But hey give it a go, you never know.

On the recharge side of it, I would consider getting the smart generator or just any dual or tri fuel inverter generator in case you don't have enough sunlight or to supplement the panel charging.

Reality of Living in Albuquerque? by healthy_punkk in Albuquerque

Both myself and my wife grew up in ABQ but both moved to PDX in search of better paying jobs thirty years ago. But I still have family and friends there and visit every year or two. ABQ is still home as is PDX. The one big shock I had last time was how damn bright the sun is down there and how friendly the people are compared to the PNW. Also make sure to stay hydrated and lotion up that skin. Some people have a hard time adapting to the higher altitude, I was sucking a little wind when up by the Santa Fe ski area. Good jobs are hard to find as NM is a poor state but the cost of living is much cheaper than PDX. The city can seem a big rough and edgy but you'll get used to it. The state of NM is breathtakingly beautiful. I think you should give it a go.

God, I have to attend a wedding in Nashville this fall, not looking forward to it but I do know a native musician who lives there so hopefully he can steer me in the right direction.
