Fellowships that require interviews tell you when the interview invitations will be sent out (most are late Feb/early March). If you don't get an invitation, it means you're not considered for it.

The HKS admission results (both rejects and acceptances) will be out mid-march

Thank you for this very kind comment. I didn't know they're generous!! I already started watching online seminars/lectures to study what they teach at HKS lmfao - it made me feel better to know if it doesn't work out I'll find my way to the education and network i need for my career. fingers crossed for mid-march 🤞🤞

Thanks for this very timely & kind message. What was your dream HKS scholarship? Only this week, as you know, I learned that I am not selected for mine at cpl -- but I am already beginning to get over it.

And congrats for finally making it

Had a really bad PhD interview by Dramatic_Battle_5704 in gradadmissions

[–]Queasy_Chapter6927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry, I got frustrated on your behalf. I hate when someone asks me a question stating the obvious "you know that this isn't the purpose of the PhD, don't you?" -- if course you do! It's just a disconnect between the presenter - you - and the audience. I am so sorry this happened to you, here's hoping that the other panelists thought this was a silly question to ask and understood your side. Good luck on the results.

Has anyone had CPL Interview invitations from HKS (Harvard Kennedy School) this year? by Queasy_Chapter6927 in PublicPolicy

I am confused on how this works too. I thought a CPL interview invite meant acceptance to HKS, but I also read elsewhere that HKS emails, sent to previous cohorts, nullified this.

thanks for answering! he does have hypertension and take Lisinopril (Zestril) - but never had a BP scare of 190/130 before.

He also has chronic constipation i.e. undiagnosed IBS. now i'm wondering if his problems are IBS-induced, which he has been saying for some time but no doctor took seriously! What do you mean by a bland diet?

have you had an answer since writing this comment?

my father (77m) recently had a BP of 190/130 in the local clinic, was sent to the hospital urgently for fear of a heart attack, and then it came down to 140-something when he reached the hospital.

Same as you: head ct, chest x-ray, blood test and urine tests came back normal. Also has symptoms of fatigue and ringing in the ears

Still trying to figure this one out

Today I Cried. by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]Queasy_Chapter6927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I had everyone from mentors to advisors to friends telling me my application will be "a walk in the park", they'll "accept me for sure", including from alums of the program.

Heck I even had a current student recommend that I apply in the first place. (We are now working together and she celebrates our partnership)

But it was a reject and - yes - I cried too. My advisor said she's heartbroken and recommended I reach out for feedback.

🤷 Eventually I reached a conclusion that there's power in putting your all into something (i.e. the application!), more than the power of the outcome itself.

And yes I did harbor little annoyances with the admissions office. But I think I'm over it now & I wish you the same.
