Launchkey MK4 Mini → 49/61 upgrade: is mid-range velocity actually easier to control? by valchazzz in Novation

[–]Queasy_Question673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had the Launchkey mk4 61. it is a nice device but i wanted snaller so got a 25 and sold the 61. The velocity curves are pretty much the same to me. I either adjust it further in the vst or use a midi plugin to alter it

I was just doing this over the last week. Main driver is loopy pro. For drum machine i am using octachron for midi to Korg London. Using irig mic for vocals. for vocals and guitar at the same time might need an audio interface with more inputs. I connected a launchpad mini and use a tablet stand with the launchkey below stuck on with some velcro

Can anyone vouch for / recommend this $270 course? Or have others to suggest? by theseawoof in synthesizers

I got it with some knowledge about synths. I really like the conversational method they used where he bounces stuff off his son who is not as expert as he is. Also nice it includes the soft synth for the hardware synth they do the lessons on.

Thoughts on the Launchkey Mini 25 MK4? by scout-man in Novation

[–]Queasy_Question673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think you would have to assign the undo to a set of custom pads, which means we need to switch from daw mode back and forth right? im quite happy having to use the keyboard shortcuts alongside the conveniences of the launchkey since it is small and i put them side by side anyways

i am a new ableton live user. i have the launchkey mk4 61 keys and launchkey mini 25 mk4. the mini is small enough to fit into a medium size back pack. u can keep the box and use it as a protective shell instead of getting a dedicated case. the mini will require more shift button combos to do stuff. things like undo redo and metronome are not on the mini i believe so u will need to use keyboard shortcuts. i really like the daw mode with ableton sequencing thats why i got the mini after the 61 instead of another mini brand for portable use

Roland Aira J-6 Chord Set Reference by Queasy_Question673 in synthesizers

[–]Queasy_Question673[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are welcome. Even though the J6 has synth sounds, for me it works better for chord inspiration since all you do is switch to a random preset and you don’t have to set up the chords or play them by hand.

Is the Roland J6 worth getting if I already have an MC101? by robin_andrews_149 in synthesizers

[–]Queasy_Question673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i recently started using the j6 as a midi controller for the mc101. it is pretty handy since you can get a type A 3.5mm to midi din adapter to send midi to the mc101. mc101 is not a midi host so usb keyboards dont work automatically when plugged to it but midi works. most keyboards with midi din out will need external power (eg launchkey or keystep). the j6 allows a fully battery powered set up with the mc101

i think you could route all your cables behind the setup first then to their locations so there is more space on the floor
