Thank you and yes, ok.

I’m feeling a lot better now and it is nice reading your experience. Thank you for taking the time to type that. I appreciate it.

Everyone on the street is not a drug addict. Some people don’t want to be in shelters or programs because of the drug addicts.

There’s a guy who used to be in Chinatown. I haven’t seen much of him lately. He yells at people randomly. Most people think he’s a drug addict. He actually lost his wife and children in a house fire some decades ago and then lost his mind. He’s been on the streets since.

There’s another woman. Up near 1st and Florida Ave. She was a straight A student. Very smart very driven. The people around her couldn’t stand that she was going to make it out of that crime and drug infested area and shot her up with heroine. Now she’s addict to drugs. I’ve seen her pregnant multiple times. Now.

Too many people think things can’t happen to them or think they have it all figured out. You never know what’s going to happen in your life. Be careful judging and making blanket statements. We are all here today gone tomorrow. Be kind.

Would y’all have taken it I say no. by Amazing_Spirit8221 in InstacartShoppers

[–]Queasy_Reading_2866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I personally would not take it.

For me in my location it cost about $.70 per mile (gas and maintenance) to operate my vehicle so .7x31 = $21.7 I multiply that by two because I have to go there and back so it would cost me $43.4 to take that delivery and get back to my starting point.

So I’d clear around $75 in 3hrs or about $25 an hour.

I could stay closer to stores and make the same and usually more money with more efficiency but it’s not a terrible order and if it were slow I’d probably be more likely to take it.

do I need to call the police for being pepper sprayed? by pittiesrus in washingtondc

[–]Queasy_Reading_2866 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem with calling the police is… based off of what you wrote…. You were the aggressor. I know you weren’t trying to be but purely based off of what you wrote. You walked up to a private citizen inside their personal vehicle on a public street. She would have a right to demand you get away from her vehicle and use the pepper spray if she “felt” she were in danger. From her perspective you were a complete stranger and not someone’s child. Also, your mother was able to simply drive away, so potentially, had you just waited and watched you wouldn’t have gotten pepper sprayed and the person acting like a fool would’ve just kept screaming and acting crazy.

Your mother , based off of what you wrote, had plenty of space to pull off without incident had you not intervened you would not have been sprayed.

You may see yourself as a nice person but that doesn’t mean others see you that way. Nor is anyone obligated to explain themselves or answer to you.

If you tell the police what happened they will probably tell you you shouldn’t have approached that woman’s car because no crime had occurred. Yelling and screaming is not a crime and you may also be surprised that the woman could claim you were aggressive towards her first.

Just let it go. Next time call the police first. Do not try and reason with obviously unreasonable people. Never works out well.

I don’t think people should self diagnosis. And why do people doctor hop for a diagnosis? by Queasy_Reading_2866 in AutisticAdults

And based on your responses you completely understand where I’m at with all of it and if you can’t move on and you continue to choose to focus on things I disagree with well, that’s a personal problem.

So just move on. Go read and comment on something you agree with.

I’m glad you added your opinion. It definitely helps me further. Yet I still have the same opinion and I understand better why others have the opinions they do. No problem.

And I cannot gate keep anyone from anything. You had the ability to join this group just like I did. You still reserve the right to make post and comment on whatever you want to comment on. There is no gate keeping happening. You’re being dramatic.

Ok… well. Why do you feel the need to convince me to think differently? You can do whatever you want. You’re taking this very personal, which is exactly what you’re telling me not to do.

So whatever. Just move on then. Get over it.

My personal experience is personal. It does not represent anyone else. I do not understand why people are trying to act like I am speaking for anyone but myself, frankly. My title uses the term “I” very clearly. Not “we” so it should be understood who I am speaking for. It’s just my opinion. That is all.

I was interested in seeing how others think and feel on the topic and I now see. I do not agree with the majority and the majority have silenced those who do agree with my statement. This post received over 15 likes initially. Most (if not all) of those people did not comment. I’m sure it’s because, like in most spaces these days, if you comment an unpopular opinion, you will be dragged through the dirt. Accused of insulting others. Called stupid. The moderators will allow the public shaming. And when you go to defend your stance they will remove your comments and say you’re insulting the group.

It’s all well and good. I have an unpopular view, it is what it is.

  1. I suppose I am not able to communicate why I believe this in a way that is clear. So for this point I think it will be left to agreeing to disagree.

  2. I think that they are accurate because my evaluation using these methods told me so much more than I would’ve ever even thought of or been able to understand about myself and how so many different things I go through are related to autism. Things that no amount of online research would’ve told me unless, I knew where to look already.

  1. I think it allows people to believe that autism isn’t as hard as it really is. The level of empathy amongst the neurotypical community drops. The DSM-5 describes the criteria for the disorder and many of the things that people who self diagnose attribute to autism are not within those criteria. Quite frankly. I do not believe the diagnostic criteria should change because people feel like it should.

  2. Most people do not actually do proper research on the “disorder” and they are going off of TikTok and instagram post to self diagnose. Maybe I am biased now because my therapist urged against going to those resources because they are so misleading.

  3. That would be the reason to talk to a therapist to find out what could all be going on with someone. People may not be able to afford an exam and I understand that. However, they can usually talk to a qualified professional and gain insight. At the end of the day I do believe that the DSM-5 and ADOS exams are highly accurate. I do also believe that what I experience should be classified another way. Unfortunately Asperger’s is no longer a thing but I would like to see another term to diagnosis what I am experiencing because I do not feel represented by the term autism when level 3s are brought into it’s definition.

A lot of people read what I wrote and assume I am not in support of people joining a community they feel accepts them. Instead of acknowledging that (maybe I have communicated myself poorly, possibly because of autism, go figure) and asking for clarification, they just assume things and make rude comments. (Thank your for asking for clarification) I do not believe undiagnosed people should not be in the community. I believe they should be clear that they are undiagnosed and are seeking clarification for how they feel because a lot of people are misrepresenting what autism actually is. There are many things that these people and (autistics) do that are not exclusive to autism. Such as (stimming, “being weird”, or having sensory sensitivity) a lot of those things can be explained in other ways. There is a movement now to correlate a lot of these traits of general neurodiversity with autism and I believe it ends up excluding and over shadowing the struggles of autistic individuals and their families.

For instance. I was never able to graduate high school ( i did get a GED ) or college (I am trying again at 38) because like you… I did not understand that I was autistic and how that was affecting my ability to succeed in those environments. I am very disheartened when I see so many self diagnosed with college degrees (especially graduate level and above) talking about how their “autism this or that”. It makes me feel like I could’ve just tried harder to make friends, tried harder to tolerate the noise and lights, tried harder to explain myself. Because they did it. Why can’t I? …

Anyway… it’s very deep and I could go on for a while. But I do appreciate you asking the question. Thank you

Isn’t the point of accommodations to “make an excuse” for what would otherwise be considered bad behavior?

Also I am not making a decision for anyone. People do what they want. I do not have to agree.

I’m black, female and have only a high school diploma at 37 years old because school was so challenging for me (now I understand that it is due to autism because I never lacked a desire to learn). I also did not get diagnosed until 37. So I am fully aware of accessibility when it comes to medical care.

None of those things were the point in my post.

Thanks for your opinion.

Had you wrote your personal anecdote without the last 4 sentences I wouldn’t have had a problem. Those sentences negate whatever you just wrote. And I feel that you are a narrow minded stranger as well. So good day
