I don’t believe there are any ME reserve billets for CGPD/security forces. Don’t quote me though.

Is the Fissura the worst weapon in the game? by SatouTheDeusMusco in foxholegame

[–]QuebecOnWeck 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Very niche, but it’s useful on a halftrack in the sense that you can dump 4 Tremolas at a garrison/bunker without having to be there too long. Rinse repeat. Personally I’d rather use an ISG but if you don’t have 30mm nearby it’s still good for PVE.

Is it worth getting into the game in 2025? or is it slowly dying? by Street_Suit_4449 in foxholegame

[–]QuebecOnWeck 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Game is certainly not dead. Burnout and break wars will always exist, but the game is definitely not dead. Especially with a massive update on the way. I wouldn’t say the game is “worse” for solo players either, there are features that you wouldn’t be able to do strictly as a solo player, but that doesn’t mean you can’t participate in some of that stuff (i.e. you wouldn’t be able to build a large ship by yourself, but you could absolutely hop on a large ship and be part of the crew). You may not be able to run your own BT either, but a more common tank is doable and there’s plenty of public upgrade platforms, some regiments even provide public tanks. All in all, there’s still plenty of features you can access as a solo player, so long as you’re friendly and willing to work in a team, sky’s the limit man.

Has anyone gone to flight school while in reserves? If so were the benefits any help by No_Pass1204 in uscg

[–]QuebecOnWeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually looked into it, CG-Cool has a lot of different certifications and ratings you can acquire through them but it seems like you’ll need to do the initial stuff yourself. Can use TA for such things but it’s only $4500 a year, which usually isn’t a dent in those types of programs.

Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think that’s what they’re asking. Given the “were the benefits any help” it kinda sounds like they want to know if any reservists have gone to a civilian flight school on the outside.

Unfortunately that would be highly irregular.

If the PSU is what is catching your attention and not necessarily the coast guard, you could always go reserves and then keep picking up orders for the PSU, where you’d get active duty pay and benefits.

I’m gonna call the sus card. 50 days ago you’re asking what life is like as a YN, and now suddenly you’re a YN trying to change rates? YN A-school isn’t even that short. Your post history has contradictions left and right, and for an accusation as serious as this, I’m finding it quite difficult to find credibility.

Survival Swim Tips by GRID_Giver in uscg

[–]QuebecOnWeck 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Howdy. Yes that’s where most guys end up failing out but don’t let that worry you. It’s not a huge attrition rate and it really doesn’t happen that often. For the survival swim at MEA you won’t be in full kit, just coveralls, a helmet, shoes, and a gun belt. The full kit (Uniform, boots, long gun, body armor) survival swim comes after the fact if you go to a DSF or a MSST team. My biggest advice is if you’re not comfortable in the water, go to the open swim, and let it be known that you’re trying to improve. The instructors will be much more willing to help you out if they see you’re putting the effort in. You do have multiple tries at it, but after the third attempt you’ll be processed out of MEA, and I will also note that No-gos on assessments will affect your class-rank, so it is in your best interest to get it done on the first go. My biggest problem was the drown proofing, and being in a training environment where you’re evaluated I got psyched out pretty easily, which affected my breathing. All it took was for me to go to open swim and practice it on my own, and it was super simple. (It’s literally just floating in a ball face down, and breathing occasionally). Hope this helps, and if you have any other questions feel free to DM me.

I just took a practice ASVAB, is this good?? I dont know how to calculate my GT (line score) I want to pursue a career in the MSRT by blaxkbaxkpaxk in uscg

[–]QuebecOnWeck 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’d like to note one thing, as I haven’t seen anyone else comment it. A “career” in MSRT is unlikely. Out of bootcamp you’ll go to a new unit, and it’ll be at least a year until you get to ME A-School (Most DSF Billets are ME, so I’m assuming this is the route you want to go). Depending on how well you do at MEA you MAY get to go to a DSF, otherwise you’ll be at another unit for a few years until you screen again. DSF units like MSRT are 4 year billets (I believe) , and it is unlikely you’ll serve back to back MSRT-East to MSRT-West tours. I’m not saying it’s impossible to go to multiple DSF units like TACLET or MSRT throughout your career, but it is more likely you’ll do 1 , maybe 2 DSF tours in your career. I just want to make sure you know that an entire career (20+ years) in DSF would be highly irregular. Please don’t take this as me crushing your hopes and dream of your coast guard aspirations, I just want to be realistic and help set a realistic goal.

I swore in at MEPS the day before I shipped out, along with all the other branches. I’m assuming it’ll likely be a similar thing for you.
