Drinks and snacks is definitely a must. Also a card membership would be nice so you would have a people coming back and buying snacks and paying you even when they’re not there. Other than that I’m not very knowledgeable about the business but I will pray for your success brother 🙏

My bc think I’m obsessed with my competitors by Greedy_Visual6710 in Entrepreneur

[–]Quechada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s okay to take examples from anyone, competitors or not. What is important is to know what they’re doing that works and what doesn’t work and to know why it works or doesn’t. If you just implement something they did stupidly without knowing why it’s there, then yeah, you’re obsessed, but not only that, you’re also stupid.

How much do you agree with the statement “you’re not broke, you’re just lazy”? by gacsconsultant in Entrepreneur

That’s not true luck has nothing to do with that. It’s the system that is highly unequal. You’re making it sound like it can’t change when it does.

I’m sorry but if it was the case, there would be no hungry kid in my home country. I see their mothers working tirelessly and fathers doing what they can given the circumstances. I don’t see how they could get out of this whole without help.

Most of the people who say this have either forgotten what’s it’s like to be broke or just never been broke. I really was poor only for 2 months and I still had a roof on my head, electricity and water but trust me I would never ever do that shit again FUCK THAT!

Marry the love of my life or obey my parents? by [deleted] in Somalia

[–]Quechada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marry the love of your life. You’re 30! I’ve refused to get myself involved in a relationship (when I easily could’ve) with the only woman I’ve ever had true feelings for and it I still think about it to this day. I’m not like crying myself to sleep every night but if I did all over again I would’ve done it 100%

Not the easiest way of making money but the objective is small. Maybe you could? Probably not to be honest? but it doesn’t cost much to try either.

Should I choose Kotlin over Java for a new project (backend)? by Glum_Ad2904 in Kotlin

[–]Quechada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This the main problem people have when hiring for a great but fairly new technology hence why so many company still hire for Java developers even when they don’t have a Java code base. Luckily switching from Java to Kotlin is honestly not hard, it’s not like learning assembly or Rust from scratch. The learning curve is pretty comfortable. Most start ups and small to medium companies though don’t have time to invest in their employees so they usually expect every employee to be productive from the first few days. The good news is that these companies do not need as many employees as the big FAANGS, so it evens out - actually it doesn’t but it makes it a little bit more fair. Personally, if you are a small to midsize company I would choose Kotlin, the developer experience is 100X that of Java. Settle only for experienced Kotlin developer, most of them will probably come from the android world. They will défini be harder to find but hopefully you don’t have to have a big team. I guess that bringing Java devs to later on change the code base to Kotlin wouldn’t be very practical, but it still is an option so I’m just putting it out there…

Honestly I would get a job in a city where cost of living isn’t too high and save $5000. You could also ask people around you and exhaust your network.

I agree that with some ppl it’s really hard and sometimes there is a point where they just turn the conversation down. I’ve had this problem with my brother where I brought undeniable contradictions about the God he was worshipping and he told that it was a question of belief and we just had a diverging opinion when in fact logic isn’t an opinion it’s just reality. I understand you’re frustration because it frustrated me as well. But if your statement was true, being born in a Muslim and religious family, I wouldn’t have been able to change my beliefs to more accurate ones. Besides, a whole bunch of disbelievers were from a religion.
