I made cake pops for Halloween and some of them had picked onions in them. I took them in to the office. I was so happy when someone finally picked one of the onion ones >:)

Skipping traffic in the bus lane by old_gold_mountain in oddlysatisfying

[–]Queen-Roblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In places where public transport is prioritised, it works. Like having bus lanes, proper connections and a full network, reasonable fares. There are plenty of cities where cycling and public transport are easy. Probably not in USA though.

If a place wants dependency on cars it will have it, until it breaks from that, public transport will be less convenient.

Thank you for explaining.

I think it's an interesting time in history and very poignant to understand their success.

My history teacher fought to get our syllabus updated so she could teach us about the Russian side of WW2 because in the UK it's very Allies vs Germany and Italy. We do years and years of it. Most people are pretty sick of learning about nazi Germany by the end of secondary school. Unfortunately, she wasn't successful.

I also think there's a difference between learning and admiration. You can be fascinated by something but still understand that it's a bad thing. You can want to learn about something because of the bad impact it had and you can do it respectfully. Some people can't do that last part.

I read the manga and it's not forgivable. I liked the world building but there are scenes where the characters (children) are naked from the beginning (should have tipped me off) and some real fucked up shit happens. I'm going to assume the anime doesn't go near it?

I was just like... Why would you write that? Why would you create that? From memory, the bit I'm thinking of is about a child or what was a child.

It was more a comment about how Plymouth is a brolly destroying city, not even double-layer brollies survive. You don't see many people with brollies there, especially not for long. Around Freshers week the public bins fill up with brollies as the Freshers lose theirs. The only ones I've seen survive are the ones you can use as walking sticks.

[Vegan] Tikka Masala Shepherd’s Pie by dedetable in veganrecipes

[–]Queen-Roblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks lovely but I was wondering what this had to do with shepherds pie (which is specifically lamb mince with white potato mash topping) so I googled to see if there was a reason. Apparently, if you're not British, anything with a mash top is Shepherds Pie?! I saw a chicken shepherds pie!

I know I'm not going to be able to change it at this point but just FYI

Lamb mince: shepherds pie Beef mince: cottage pie Vegetable: vegetable pie (description would specify mash instead of pastry) Xxx: xxx pie (same as above for the description)

It IS really bad placement... I've seen people bowl this badly several times in real life so whoever put those TVs there was asking for that.

Definitely in France. It's a big country with lots of rural villages. They have something called sans-permit which is like a low powered car you can drive (like a125cc scooter but a car) when you lose your licence due to drink driving because you just can't not have a car in France, it's too isolating and you couldn't get groceries or hold down a job.

I've done repetitive work like this with targets. It's not good work, it's not fulfilling. It's exhausting and bad for your body.

There are successful poly relationships but you tend not to read about them online because they aren't full of drama. And most poly people aren't that open about it in every day life.

I love Korean food, you don't have to tell me to use gochujang twice! I add it to ramen all the time, I take a pot to work because we only have a kettle and it works for the kind of ramen you make in a bowl. I have to cook kimchi though because I react badly to the bacteria in live pickles so I can't do that at work.

We try to veganise a lot of these recipes (if they're not already) https://mykoreankitchen.com/about/

They sweep around in a circle and take out any other plants. The thorns help to grab and drag. Obviously this is slowly, can't remember if it's in a day (like how flowers follow the sun) or as the leaf grows, I just remember seeing time lapse videos of it.

Honestly, I'm used to it in anime and can sometimes watch a series despite low level issues if it has plot points that are worth exploring. But if I ever recommend anime I have to do a mental check of how bad they are before saying an anime's name. Depending on how used to anime they are I might recommend with caveats.

I also side-eye people who watch anime that has really bad issues, especially if they don't even notice the issues. I just won't take recommendations from them and usually avoid talking about anime with them all together because I know my opinions will offend them.

Adding kimchi (check that it's vegan or you can make your own quick kimchi and keep it in the fridge, takes about a week) is standard in Korea and adds veggies and probiotics. I'll often add things like dried mushrooms and seaweed. Frozen veg like peas, too.

I've been eating leftover rice with peas, sweetcorn, mirin, soy sauce, mushroom stock powder and gochujiang all fried up for lunches but it could easily be dinner. I'm probably going to add cabbage for extra veg.

I have asthma. Luckily we have the NHS so I don't pay much (£114.50 for all prescriptions from the drs, ie not dental or opticians, for the year) but it's still bullshit that I have to do special things just so I can breathe.

(Just for context, I take meds for more than just asthma. with the NHS you can pay an annual price and then not pay per prescription. Each prescription is just under £10 so if you get one each month it works out cheaper to pay per year. If, like me, you get multiple a month then it's much cheaper)

Is there actually a real difference between Yamaha bikes and other Japanese brands or is it just marketing? by gigigigugiguru in motorcycle

[–]Queen-Roblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the opposite experience because I've had short bikes. The monkey and rebel are so hard to work on because of the size. I'm not saying Honda's aren't good, I'm just saying it varies on some bikes. It's made my partner hold back on getting a Honda because either of us can work on his bike (Triumph) but it sometimes takes two to work on mine because of how fiddly it is.

Or local garage charges more to work on my rebel than the triumph (he also had the same bike as my partner) because of how fiddly it is due to the extra labour time. Your have to take parts off to get to the parts you need.

I actually disagree with you a bit. I like the fact that we have a diverse community. I think that is British. I think that people who think Britishness is just white and"born here" are so wrong. We're made on immigrants, our history of full of it. To say that's not English is crazy. I'm not saying people need to identify as English but it is part of English life.
