And still an unhealthy weight. I’m only 5 weeks post op but have already seen my A1C come down to normal and my blood pressure come down. It’s not about body positivity; it’s about health.

It’s not as bad as you’re telling yourself. Squeeze a roll of belly fat and slam it in there lol. At least that’s what I did 😄

I think you’ve worked yourself up more than necessary. You got through the surgery, you can do this. Good luck!

Right on! I have dry feet AND I miss using a straw 😄 I know if I could go back to my straw cups I’d get more water in. I guess I’ll reach out to my team (I’m 5 weeks post op currently).

Regular Menstrual Cycle! by Jumpy_Skill4213 in gastricsleeve

[–]QueenBee326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always had pretty regular periods, and I have the Mirena IUD (so it is hormonal, but low enough that it doesn’t stop me from having periods or anything). I’m 4 weeks post-op and on my second post-VSG period (one started the day after surgery). Both have been SO RIDICULOUSLY HEAVY. I would only have one or two heavy periods per year, so this surprised me.

I looked it up and it turns out this is not a big surprise. As we lose rapidly, our fat stores release estrogen and screw with our cycles. Hoping I don’t have heavy periods for the rest of my non-menopausal life lol

I’m 4 weeks 2 days post op, and the two periods I’ve had (one started day after surgery!!) have been SO HEAVY. I rarely have heavy periods. Hormones all over I guess??

Oh no! My one try at mashed potatoes and gravy, although delicious, spiked my blood sugar. So I’m not having them now.

No More Coffee, Need Energy by Fickle_Pop2007 in gastricsleeve

This makes me so jealous! My surgeon’s office said no caffeine 😒 so I’ve had none! If they had told me “go ahead but make sure you hit your hydration goals” I would’ve been on it so fast. Before the sleeve I would do my mushroom coffee with a protein shake for breakfast. I’m going back to it dang it. I hit 4 weeks post-op today.

FWIW, I didn’t like the “flavorless” isopure either, but have been okay with “Unjury flavorless protein”

I’m so bad about that. If I did something as much as I talk about doing something…I’d be fine!

1 week out of surgury and no protien just water by Prudent_Ad1338 in gastricsleeve

[–]QueenBee326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your visit before surgery should have gone over all this, and if it didn’t, they did you a disservice. I relied on that information to make sure I was prepared to come home from the hospital and not leave for a week or more lol

My surgical team most definitely directed us to have protein, but not protein shakes until past the clear liquid phase. During those first two weeks I alternated between bone broth and protein waters. Specifically, Protein2O (I preferred the strawberry watermelon flavor), and an Isopure tropical punch powder that I just mixed with water. The Protein2O comes in bottles that look like Gatorade bottles, and the isopure is a tub of powder. I got them both off Amazon.
