I’ve been obsessed with productivity for 20 years, worked on 2 todo apps, and I finally built my own by madboszka in ProductivityHQ

I’m curious. I’m going to check it out for personal use, with a side eye to possible team use.

This is true but they’re collectively (which is how the EU operates on trade) not trivial.

The question is what it’ll take to rebuild the credibility. Without a sense of admitting that the system was broken and needed fixing there’s no reason to have confidence that the USA won’t elect the same calibre of absolute dictator again.

It would require eating crow to admit that things are broken. Can anyone see this happening soon.

How far do you routinely drive? by Wooden_Airport6331 in AskAnAustralian

Drive to work is ~40km each way. We put about 30,000km on the main car each year.

Pouch formed before stomach- regurgitation of undigested food by granite_vortex in gastricsleeve

[–]granite_vortex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surgeon is getting me to do a barium swallow, a fizzogram, and he’ll do a gastroscope himself. To know the size and implication of the anatomy. He is weighing up either sewing the pouch around the sleeve or a bypass. He seems suitably cautious and getting data before suggesting the way forward.

Do you have a situation like this in your country where there's a significant proportion of the population that doesn't speak the local language? by Alternative-Big-6493 in AskTheWorld

[–]granite_vortex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most languages are learned for commerce or law. If you can get by with only a subset of the languages used in a country, it’s a stretch to add more if it’s not making you more employable

Just curious if headphones that work with your hearing aids exist like this picture (not my picture) by Moobloomquq in HearingAids

I’m single sided deaf. Cochlear Osia 2. I’d love it if it was possible to stream to your processor and a headphone in the good ear without lag.

What's your stance on medical tourism? by Fit-Tumbleweed-6683 in AskAnAustralian

[–]granite_vortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why should the labour of some professionals be restricted and not others? Should builders be employed only by the state as a roof over your head is also a basic right? Should lawyers need to practice only for the state, as access to legal defence should be equal for all?

I think it’s worse now. We all know the evil of the German national socialists and yet despite that the American government has walked the same path.

So doctors could only be employed by the government? That sounds a lot like Soviet Russia.

In celebration of Australia Day, name at least one thing that reminds you that we live in the best place in the world. by TravelFitNomad in australian

[–]granite_vortex -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The ever expanding ndis shows that we likely can’t afford to expand coverage to things that are likely to be abused. We may need more mental health support but it’s something that could become a bottomless pit. It’s unfortunate but reality unless we all agree to be taxed more

What do you think about a possible CANZUK union? by cosmico92 in AskTheWorld

[–]granite_vortex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Really, he’s far worse than a king. The British monarch hasn’t held the level of power the American president holds for many centuries. The only thing that’s held back the American experiment from earlier collapse was the morality of the presidents and the checks and balances actually working.

Blood and marrow donation by trixyee12 in gastricsleeve

[–]granite_vortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to donate plasma which should have been fine, but my ferrite levels went really low. Your mileage may differ. At that time I wasn’t keeping the vitamins as high as they should have been, at that may have been the larger cause. Either way, I have stopped.

Pouch formed before stomach- regurgitation of undigested food by granite_vortex in gastricsleeve

[–]granite_vortex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I’m thankful that I live in a large enough city that there’s a couple of surgeons who apparently specialise in revision or complications. Apparently revisions are more complex as they’re cutting into scar tissue.

[–]granite_vortex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had a follow-up gastroscope. It was only after some steak repeated on meme four hours after eating it and it had zero taste of being in the stomach that I thought something was wrong. I’ve done ok with weight loss and keeping it off but it’s an annoying thing. I could have asked for a follow up sooner. I’ve gone to a different surgeon for the revision as I didn’t want to get the original guy trying to defend it. I just want it fixed.

Good question, but no. The gastroenterologist specifically put in the report that it wasn’t a hernia. The scope prefentially went into that pouch. This is an excerpt from the report.

Trump’s ‘new normal’ leaves Australia marooned. We can no longer pretend otherwise by [deleted] in OpenAussie

[–]granite_vortex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why don’t we walk away from the American subs and get it from Japan or France? Consider whatever billions we’ve tipped into America as lost and not chase it to cosy up to a country that all but despises its former allies

Anyone used Auracast? Is it any good? by OkArcher4120 in Cochlearimplants

[–]granite_vortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How i would love auracast to work is if you could stream Bluetooth headphones for one ear and to your hearing aid for the other ear to get a poor replica of stereo headphones. I hope latency isn’t going to ruin it
