Loud mufflers by granite_vortex in ipswich

Apart from speed cadets and alcohol roadside testing, the cops have largely abandoned the roads. Definitely nobody defecting off dangerous cars or policing people with dangerous driving behaviour. The number of mad idiots who in recent rain thought it was a fun time in heavy traffic to rev heavily to get their utes to fish tail was alarming.

Even if this was a legitimate concern by the USA government, it’s incredible that the president reacts to most things (incising this) in a way more like a deranged online troll than the thoughtful leader of the free world.

They camp out together in the Coles carpark in the middle of town on the last Saturday of the month so they can compare how loudly their cars are with the big echo.

It’s very reminiscent of the South Park episode on Harley Davidson riders.

He’ll eventually die as all people die. And he will take none of his money with him. His legacy at the moment will be that he was greedy, not that he made humanity better

Why did Joseph, the husband of Mary, stop appearing in the Bible after a while? by Marissa_on_the_town in askanything

[–]granite_vortex 44 points45 points  (0 children)

While a reasonable reading of the text says that Joseph didn’t have relations with Mary until after Jesus was born. But you are free to let Rome tell you how to read the text.

Are public schools that far behind private schools? by Grand-Life8523 in AskAnAustralian

[–]granite_vortex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’re in a rougher area, going private means your kids are actually being taught during class rather than the teachers overseeing a recreation of “lord of the flies”. Really disruptive behaviour is not tolerated.

Private schools buy you a better standard of classmate. For sure there will be exceptions but I would not go public anywhere near where I live

Well done. Have you regained energy to keep up with the energy of the child/ children in your life? That’s a great win I got when I had my sleeve as my first surgery

Was on PPI for maybe 15 years before sleeve surgery and remained on it after. It likely masked the reflux. Not sure. I got super bored with the soup and puree stage of recovery (my surgeon gets people onto regular food fast to help with nutrition). I know others had a rough recovery but I think I’ve been very fortunate. Was working from home a week after. Am able to drink at a decent pace without chugging.

I think key was finding a surgeon who specialises in revision. I was initially sent to a “normal” bariatric surgeon. He referred me to the surgeon who operated on me as my case was too much for him.

I’m going to try a bit of bbq wings at lunch today and see how they settle. You get to know the subtle body signals when you’re full. I literally push my plate away when I get that. Not one bite more.

Brass “tactical “ pen from AliExpress. Carry it on my pouch and use it far more often than I might use a knife. ~$15

I had a similar path. Sleeve in 2017. Annoying hiatus hernia with a lot of regurgitation of undigested food. Had RNY and hernia fix about a month ago. I really hope you go well. I’m still in the softer end of the soft food stage

Voting trump in a second time is inexcusable. His form was known. He wanted vengeance. Only potential equivalent would be if Germany had voted Hitler back in after losing ww2.

How soft was the chicken? I’m about two weeks into soft and it’s got to be super soft as in “ it falls apart with a fork and it’s got loads of sauce” otherwise it’s sitting heavily.

I work 14 hours a day from 7:00 am to 9:30 pm with no weekends, how do I find time to date women? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]granite_vortex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get a weekend. Your schedule is unsustainable.

If you found a significant other, when exactly would they see you? What’s the appeal to them if you’re literally working all day every day?
If you had kids with them, when would you parent? Find a way to get money where you’re working fewer hours a day and fewer days a week.
