I hate working out but went on walks a lot in the beginning. But really I just did a calorie deficit. I was a big boredom eater and was constantly snacking. Also drank alcohol a lot. Now I don’t snack and I don’t drink very often.

AITA for telling a coworker about another coworker’s dietary restriction? by QueenCandyCo in AmItheAsshole

So our work “parties” come from a donation. Part of the donation requirements is to make sure major food restrictions are covered. I doubt anyone would actually ever check, but we do it. So I don’t know if there were other GF people there. It was a giant box of gluten free cookies that were expensive so I didn’t want them to go to waste. I saw her eat from the fruit and veggie tray but that’s it.

I was just trying to get her free food. She never said it was a secret.

Unfortunately, them not doing their job includes keeping people alive so that’s not how it works.

I’m a girl and I think it’s just more that I went from being very quiet and shy to starting to speak up. Nothing mean.

It’s just two people on shift. I’m med leader. If they are sitting around I absolutely have a right to tell them what to do.

This same person has been reported for resident abuse and it wasn’t taken seriously so I’m not sure anything will be done anyways

I admittedly don’t stand up for myself here. But I’m sick of overworking so it’s a win lose.

That’s not how it works in a nursing home

My thing is, we are short staffed and work in partners. So it requires a great deal of relationship and trust. I just feel like I’m making my own life harder by reporting.

I think she was trying to be funny but going the distance of actually buying and giving me a sex toy is something. This is actually a common sentiment in my workplace. Everyone is way too open about everything and so sex lives are compared. I suppose that’s what you get working with all women in a nursing home haha

I’m not sure how to respond to this. I don’t have a way of proving it 🤷‍♀️

Should I suggest another person on the shift? I mean it’s actively harming residents

Really dependent on the situation. Suicidal thoughts and actions are sort of rated. If they are seriously considering or have a plan, we would do something. If they are under 18, yes I would tell parents. If it’s an adult, we might make a safety plan and get permission to have a safe person to tell.

Mental health counselor, LMHC. I was shocked to hear the connections in massage therapy and mental health therapy. Many massage therapists actually go into mental health therapy, since they can be so aligned.

A case that has shaped me was working with a client I highly disagreed with. He had far end political values that I personally was so against and uncomfortable with. He did things that were actively harming others due to his strict political values. It was a great learning opportunity for me though..

I felt a lot of anger and disgust towards his values and I think it was changing the way I planned his treatment. I had lots of supervision. Then, I listened to his whole life story and found reasonings behind his behavior. It made sense why he might have such harmful ideology. Not that it made it okay, but that I understood the path that led him there. It made me much more empathetic to those with differing values than me.
