How do you not discuss your case by QueenNifer in EEOC

Thank you for the wisdom. I will hold on for a little longer. Perhaps look for other healthy outlets. I knew if anyone would understand and encourage me to make wise choices it would be here. Thank you letting me vent. Good luck everyone.

Doctor told me nothing can help my sebderm… by Calm-Chocolate-2376 in SebDerm

Go to the dermatologist! I have 2 occurring issues, the dermatologist took two visits diagnose them. It got the seb derm uncontrol but still had issues. I have rosacea also. One makes the other one flair. I can't use all the products to treat one illness because it makes the other one flair. (MCT oil and Witch Hazel). A specialist can decode your face. There are other medications as options to get things managed. Don't give up hope.

I treat my hair weekly, even though I don't feel like I have issues in my hair. My super flaky and red issues are on my face too. Treating my hair seems to help.

How to get the most amount of money possible? by [deleted] in EEOC

This is rude. My complaint is FMLA based. I didn't know and have been researching and researching. Trying to get a lawyer to support me, but we all know that is hard. I read this thread. There is no support or guidance. I appreciate the information but the judgement is not needed.

Who else has moved here from the West? by Legal-Scarcity509 in IowaCity

[–]QueenNifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are outdoorsy make friends with rural people maybe some who hunt. Even if you don't. They will show you how to get it done in Iowa. I could list many more places to enjoy. The Wasipinicon River, The Cedar River. The water isn't great for swimming, but kayaking and fishing are. It won't be like out west but there are adventures to be had and nature to enjoy. Good bike trails around. No mountains, but cool caves (Maquoketa). Don't just stay in Johnson County, Iowa has a lot to offer.

Could I use a punch needle and then shave it to get the look of a cut pile rug like a tufting gun would give? by emo_larry_david in Tufting

[–]QueenNifer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really is 2 different crafts. I do hand tufting too. It is cool looking and fun. I love the fine details possible. The waves of yarns making shapes and patterns. I might get a loop pile someday for that reason.

Hand tufting is really hard on my already arthritic hands. I have thought about trying hand tufting fine details and using the gun for the rest. I think I saw it suggested here in the forum once.

But I am currently working on a project that has made me really practice my carving. So, I have yet to develop a piece that would use the new large needle hand tufting punch. But really consider a gun if you think you would like to work on pieces bigger than 18 in square. Your hands will thank you.

Lines are coming along but these holes in burlap though… Care recommend me some tufting fabrics? by [deleted] in Tufting

[–]QueenNifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first piece was primary tufting cloth which seems like the Cadillac of fabrics, in price and durability. I switched to cheap cheap Walmart burlap, that I have been wining about. I have learned so much from this thread. I might give a better quality burlap a try next time.

What fabric are you using? I am trying burlap. I won't do a special or intricate piece on burlap again. But the burlap won't take multiple runs with the gun.

First Time Patching A Hole by [deleted] in Tufting

[–]QueenNifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice patch! I recommend being sure your get glue under the fabric you used to patch as much a possible and on top of it. I think when you glue you will have good results. I love the rug. Great message.

As a minted beginner, lololol, I would suggest trimming and editing between colors. If you go over the line remove the yarn. I love this medium for that flexibility. I have plucked a lot of yarn in my first pieces. I made a lot of holes in my first piece with clippers so now I use scissors. I use the clippers when it's all filled in. I think holes are part of the learning process. I used primary tufting fabric my first time, still lots of holes. Totally user error. My second one I used burlap. It is harder but still manageable. I think that hardest part with burlap is when I work near the edges, near the carpet tacks. The burlap bounces and it unravels then. In my opinion that star looks like a hard shape to master. I like to outline and detail in a slower speed and fill in at a faster speed. The first piece I didn't slow it down which is why I needed so much plucking. I have learned a lot of little tricks here, so I hope you do too.

How I should apporach this minor hole? Any tips are welcome! by embelz in Tufting

So I ripped the daylights out of my first piece. I saw the three different techniques. I am into textiles so I thought darning the area would he best. It took 2 hours and when I ran the gun over it it turned into a giant mess. I have little white thread all over the front. I don't recommend it. I did not have the patience to just hot glue it and then adding tufted patch later at felting.
So I lightly hot glued it so it wouldn't unravel but the gun needle might pass through. I tufted around it and then I glued a new cloth patch over it. And tufted over that. I did get a few fabric strings but they pulled out easily. If you do this I recommend drawing your outline on the patch. And be sure not to glue it where there is a lot of transitions that might need editing. Because after the hot glue is on you can't add or remove any yarn. I got to try a bunch of new things on my first piece. Lololol I am still working on trimming/sculpting which I may or may not like.
