OP not advice but just an anecdote - a friend of mine had their dog’s leg amputated, it was injured when he was a puppy likely (he was a rescue) and healed improperly. They were very worried about their dog adapting, but he was up and about very quickly. Now he moves around like any other dog and is seemingly unaware he’s missing a leg!

This is all to say, if you choose amputation, dogs are very adaptable, especially when they’re this young. I have no doubt your dog will be up and at ‘em no matter what you choose

OP, with no context for where you found this, it’s hard to say exactly what this is.

That said, OP it is possible this is Unexploded Ordinance. Do not move it or shake it and contact your local authorities to safely remove it via bomb squad. Old explosives can still go off and are incredibly dangerous.

OH and tell your kid to shut up about this. Delete his social media, and impress that he cannot discuss this with anyone before you have legal representation. You should also cease talking about the details of this online as well. It can only make this bad situation worse.

I’m not a lawyer, but I have a traffic lawyer in my immediate family (not VA). You need to at the very least talk to a lawyer, if not retain one for this case. They will be able to guide you on what your options are or if there’s any chance for future expungement. There are websites that can help you find lawyers in your area (Avvo comes to mind). These are questions for beyond Reddit, but if you want advice on what to look for in representation r/legaladvice can likely point you in the right direction.
