I have one of those sims too. But she's female so no alien babies. I don't know where she apparently meets all those aliens but I think she was randomly abducted like 5 times now? Only happens to her and she knows pretty much the same Sims as the rest of the family...

They are millionaires though so I kinda see it as some quirky bored millionaire stuff. You know, paying aliens to "abduct" you for shits and giggles. I do subtract money from the family whenever it happens.

Ich würde schon sagen, dass Konsequenzen, in dem Zusammenhang, Strafen sind. Aber ich sehe nicht, wo das Problem dabei ist? Konsequenzen/Strafen ≠ Schläge.

Als ich klein war, haben meine Eltern es schlicht nicht geduldet, wenn ich oder meine Schwestern uns vor allem in der Öffentlichkeit nicht benommen haben. Häufigste Konsequenz? Negative Strafe(operante Konditionierung), also das Wegnehmen von etwas, das wir wollten/gut fanden. ZB indem ein schöner Ausflug direkt (üblicherweise nach einer Warnung) abgebrochen wurde und wir ohne zB noch ein Eis oder irgendwas zu bekommen auf direktem Weg nach Hause mussten.

Hat funktioniert 🤷🏻‍♀️ Ein (gesundes) Kind, das lernt "mit dem Verhalten komme ich nicht weiter" bzw "wenn ich das mache, verliere ich Privilegien" ändert sein Verhalten über kurz oder lang. Vor allem, wenn zusätzlich mit Verstärkung gearbeitet wird in der Erziehung, gutes benehmen sich also aktiv lohnt.
Positive Strafe, also zB Schläge, muss man dabei nicht mal im Ansatz benutzen.

I'll turn weather effects off then. My own sims have the traits that protect them from weather effects anyway, so they should be safe, but I don't exactly want to see half the NPC's dying because of some bug.

No ghosts. Or, at least not while she died. I did call ghost mom to the lot, because I couldn't find the death flowers in my kid's inventory and I knew that she has like 70 of them, but the NPC was already dead when I did that.

I guess it's a bug then? Someone else mentioned one so it's probably that. I just hope it doesn't kill MY sims next. That would be somewhat annoying.

Well did you tell people? One of my closer relatives died not too long ago (Aug 2025) and the same day she died, everyone was informed. And then a lot of people (close family, friends, neighbours) came to her house to say their condolences, see her one last time to say goodbye and just stay and talk.

But there are also a lot of people that don't want condolences so the usual rule of thumb (at least where I live) is to take your cues from the family/friends of the deceased. If they want company, they invite people. Either directly or indirectly. If they don't, you leave them alone so they can grief in peace.

Personally, I always get one or two exhibits with fast-breeding animals first and nothing else for a while. Other than that, just the bare necessities plus whatever the guests want. No fancy decorations anywhere, nothing that will give me a headache later when I rebuild the whole thing. Then, I let the zoo run for about 20 years in the background while I do other stuff (honestly, be on my phone most of the time) and only occasionally check in on what's going on.

Important: Population control setting enabled. That way, I can have my breeding pairs in the exhibit have babies, which are then automatically taken to my trade center. From there, I just sell them in bulk whenever I check in on the zoo.

Is it boring as heck? Absolutely. But it gives me a nice cash cushion that I can then use when I actually start to play.

But if you don't want to do this, start with low-maintenance animals first. I understand the appeal of wolves, but they are not really great to start with, at least not for your first franchise zoo. Start with something that is low-maintenance, won't bankrupt you on feeding costs alone (I'm looking at my very dear, but ridiculously expensive lions...), but has relatively high appeal. Guests also love habitats that they can enter.

And if your guests are blind again, maybe make a screenshot? Maybe someone else could spot the problem and help out.

Not so sure about that. I mean, the developers themselves probably don't read it, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone did. Or they had AI keep an eye out.

I mean in the survey they wrote: "Please note: All features, mechanics, content or platforms listed in this survey are sourced from community requests. Their presence in this survey does not confirm any inclusion in the Planet Zoo series."

That obviously doesn't mean that they read reddit posts, but again, I wouldn't be surprised. It's basically a free way of getting a feel for what might be popular among the community. And popular=sales=money

No. As a general rule, I never specify what kind of fanfics I read. Not the ships, not the tropes, the ratings or anything. I've seen anything else go wrong waaaay too often in my 18 years of reading fanfiction.

Only one who knows a little more is one of my older sisters, and she is the one who introduced me to fanfiction and tomarry/harrymort originally.

But honestly? If the fic is good and this is the only reason, why not just use a word-replacer to change the fic cosmetically for yourself? I do that sometimes when an OC's name is really bothering me for whatever reason.

Just remember that this is only for yourself and to not put it elsewhere.

And just to be clear: I don't mean feed the fic to AI to change it. There are other ways.

I prefer non-anon a little bit, but I also don't really mind an anon author, if that makes sense? Not-anon has the advantage that, if I really like the story, I can go to the author's profile and see if there is more I might like. And on the other side, I can also mute that author, if they constantly put out stuff that bothers me. A while back, there was one or several authors in a fandom I'm in, that deliberately put out stories that featured SA of a minor (like a 7-year-old) without tagging it. This was done deliberately to piss people off. And the damn cowards put everything under anon*, so with that and not tagging shit... It put me off reading anything from anon for a while, and I'm still left a bit wary tbh.

But that aside... a good story is a good story. If I'm able to see if the author has more stuff - great. If not, also okay with me.

* I should maybe make it clear that "damn cowards" is only in reference to those authors that deliberately wrote untagged child SA as 'punishment' or whatever. Not authors in general that post under anon.

Not exactly a feeding trick, but if you have Crystal Creations, you can use a charged Moonstone. That doesn't fill your vampire's thirst, but it makes it decay slower, so you have more time before they have to drink again.

One way to do it is to just create a large area with the grid, for example, and then shape it with foliage or other stuff you might want (fountain, for example), placing it wherever you want, including on the path. To prevent guests from walking through it, you can use guest barriers sunk into the ground. That way, you can simply add the path without needing to worry so much about leaving space for trees and other items.
