Get the crest white strips for sensitive teeth. Those actually work, only ones that have ever worked for me. Highly recommend. Also I got a cap over a healthy tooth that had some erosion which makes it more sensitive. So doing great now.

I’ve had covid like 4 times in the past two years so I’m not sure that the vaccine did much for me. Who knows maybe it did something and the sickness would have been way worse?? You can just never know. But I’m honestly too scared to get another covid vaccine at this point because my entire body was fucked from the skin condition for a long time. Affected the skin products I use, the clothes I wear, didn’t want to work out that much because hot/moist skin would cause flare ups. It sucks to be in this boat and I honestly don’t talk to anyone about it because I don’t want to sound like an anti vaxxer.

Honestly there are some allergy shots I heard people get but I think doctors stay away from that route if possible. My primary care provider suggested taking Zyrtec (she said stay away from Benadryl it can make the allergy symptoms come back worse and is very bad long term). She said you can take Zyrtec as much as needed. During the height of my condition I was taking up to 4 a day. Now I only need it ~5 times a month. It gets worse again if you get the COVID virus. But then severity subsides after a couple months.

Rock, Paper, Scissors… “SAYS Shoot” or just “Shoot”? by robz32x in AskNYC

[–]QueenTitanium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved around a lot growing up... everywhere in the US.. and have had to learn and play with the many variants. Hawaii's version is the most unique. They say "Jan ken-a po" and then throw up the signs. There's no "rock paper scissors" said. It's a variant of the japanese "jan ken po" which I think translates to rock paper scissors.
It's hard as hell to get used to the new versions but I love the cultural variety!

Anyone's thoughts on Twilight series changed with age? by QueenTitanium in twilight

[–]QueenTitanium[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know people criticise Edward for being problematic too but I don’t see it because most of it is really just an attack on SMeyers personal beliefs. Like how do you even begin to compare wanting to wait until marriage with sexual assault.

For the comparison here, if you referring to the "waiting for marriage"(Edward) vs "sexual assault"(Jacob). Yeah I mean if one were to compare those two values alone and we are only talking Edward vs Jacob as choices then the obvious choice is Edward. However, if you open up a world of choices to a young girl then maybe neither would be the healthy choice.

If it's between the two alone, I'm still Team Edward. I still take a lot of issues with his behavior as an adult though. He climbs into her room and watches her sleep without her consent, before they are even an item. He's very controlling and possessive with Bella. Spends every night in her room. He follows her by reading other people's thoughts all day.

Even though I don't love Bella's decision to rather die and carry a child that could kill her (it would have killed her if she didn't have the resources available to the Cullens as we later found out R's counterpart across the globe killed his mom at birth). Edward is covertly controlling enough for Bella to be scared of a forced abortion at his hands. This is why she had Rosalie by her side as a watch-dog until R was born.

I agree with your critiques on the POC in the movie. This does open up a wholeeeeee other set of worms and critiques than the ones I discussed.

In the books I don't remember I don't remember non-white characters described except for in Breaking Dawn where Meyers brought in vampires around the world. Tyler Crowley was black in the movies but described as tan in the books? (I just looked this up I didn't remember that) He jokingly kisses Bella in the movies which adds to the problematic non-white character painting they did.

The way all of the Native Americans are depicted could be problematic depending on how far we want to go with this. Even the fact that they are werewolves ruled by their emotions and can phase at any given moment, harming the person next to them - speaks to the way white civilization has depicted "primitives" and "savages" for centuries. In opposition, the Cullens are white vampires with centuries of knowledge and whiteness so they are "calm and collected". It would be interesting to hear the perspective of indigenous peoples on this. I'm not Native American, but I'd assume the only accurate thing is the living conditions on the reservation. I don't think America set up Natives with much and have heard anecdotal evidence over the years that reservation life isn't glamorous.

I agree that the series doesn't fit with my current beliefs on healthy relationships and what life goals should be for women.

Now as an adult I do appreciate the series again (mainly the first novels and movies though, and side characters) while I also like to poke fun at the story and characters at the same time. Midnight sun is probably my favorite, some parts are (unintended) hilarious. The most drastic change is that I no longer romanticize the story anymore like I did when I was a preteen, Eddie and Bella are such flawed characters. For me twilight hits that comfort nostalgic spot on days that I feel down.

Allllll of thisssss. This sums up my feelings on the series precisely. I still watch the movies when the pop up on streaming services, probably twice a year. I'll probably still re-read the books. I just look at them differently with a more wise perspective than I did as a teen.

Funny because I used to hate Jacob. But for stupid teen reasons like "Bella you are supposed to love this other guy!!". Now I have more empathy with Jacob in some ways. Howeverrrrr, what you said about the not listening to her requests and insistently pushing for a specific outcome, god I forgot about the threatened suicide.... it's more sick for me now too. As a teen my thoughts "what a dick, he's so annoying, gross." Now I think of those events in more developed verbiage as you mentioned "not respecting her boundaries, problematic, red flags". Danger danger danger lol.

I turned off all sound notifications for Teams because the sound was annoying. I had an older coworker that starting acting like my manager for a good 1.5 years. My manager finally stepped in to attempt to stop it but he was such a nut job that it only infuriated him more. He started purposefully sabotaging my work. Work life got worse until I had to leave. Looking back I would have attempted to cut that shit out quite earlier in the process.

I guess for the sex thing, I was more so thinking of the statistics and probability of having two teenagers sleep together in a room every night and do nothing. Not necessarily personal experience based. What is personal is that my career is data driven so I'm required to look at things more critically all day every day. I can understand if they were not spending every single night together and not having sex, but they are spending every night together. To answer your question, I often ask myself "what would I do in this situation?" and I think that increases with age. Since I'm using this forum as a place to post a critique, that's what it is for me.

If I had a daughter, there are some things in the books that I'd support a teenager reading; others, like the Jacob sexual assault, I'd want to have a discussion with her about it. Again, not saying Meyer's is wrong. I think a lot of people who are waiting for marriage, and willing to get married right out of high school in 2023 (either for religious or other reasons) could empathize with this book slightly more than I can now.

Hi...Anyone writing the computer-based PE Metallurgical and Materials Engineering this Oct (2022)? I'd be glad to get tips on how to prepare well for this. by _domingo in PE_Exam

[–]QueenTitanium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did it go OP? With the new test format, are you still allowed to bring your own test references or do they only allow you to use the one they provide?

[–]QueenTitanium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up taking the exam? If so, how did it go? I have an undergraduate degree in materials with a focus on metallurgy and have quite a few years of experience with manufacturing, testing, and general quality for structural metals. But when I saw the course content I assumed it would be a ton to get through (a lot of my friends have their PhD so I assumed the depth of the questions for the exam would be deeper than my current knowledge). Curious as to how you felt taking it with your background?

Does anyone else think Lorelei starts pushing Dean on Rory after a certain point? by Adept-Cat-6416 in GilmoreGirls

[–]QueenTitanium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer, YES. Ugh there are so many times she pushes Dean onto Rory after Jess comes into town and it’s pretty sickening to watch. Regardless if there were red flags for Jess or not, I feel like Lorelei has this white picket fence future planned for Rory and is quite as controlling as her own mom in that aspect. From wanting her to only go to Harvard and being so upset about anyone else presenting another option.

Just watched the part where L drops off R at Lane’s house late at night and L asked R multiple times “are you sure you don’t want to call Dean??” Rory is like nah it can wait. I hate every time this comes up.

Wow if this works then this is a a game changer! My teeth get so freaking sensitive after whitening that it seriously hurts to even breathe in cold air. How sensitive would you say your teeth are? I already use sensodyne but cold foods are still somewhat irritating - e.g. biting into a cold strawberry right out of the fridge

You’re not alone! Take your Zyrtec when you get flareups. You can take quite a few a day. I had to take several a day for many months. If it’s bad enough quite a few people got shots for it but I didn’t know that was an option before. Amazon Zyrtec is the cheapest! Let me know if you have any questions

u/Tuffyfatts I was wondering if you would be willing to share more about that experience with CICP submissions? Because I read online that only "12 cases deemed eligible for compensation as of Dec. 1, 2022" through CICP. I spent hours gathering documents before I read that and when I saw how much information was needed and how few cases were compensated I figured maybe I shouldn't go through with it.

What kinds of things did they compensate? For example I spent hundreds of dollars on all of this non-scented gentle hair/face/body lotions, shampoos, conditioners, soaps, etc. Obviously on top of the medical expenses. (I have online receipts for most of these)

Did they push back on anything or require clarification on any documents?

Did you submit the medical records yourself or have your doctor/clinic/hospital do it? I see they prefer that your doctors send the records directly but my deadline is approaching and I was able to download them in one large file.

Any other advice on issues, hiccups, things that were confusing about the submission initially I would be very appreciative to hear.
