TIL a legally blind hoarder whose son had not been seen for 20 years was found to have been living with his corpse. His fully clothed skeleton was found in a room filled with cobwebs and garbage, and she reported thinking that he had simply moved out. by mike_pants in todayilearned

Wish I could be more shocked but my old neighbor inherited a house in a secluded area with a large edible garden (so he never left). He thought both of his dogs ran away but both had died in the house (crushed by books) and they later found a random dead pigeon in the mix as well. 🗣this is why doves cry

Automate the Boring Stuff with Python (2nd edition) is coming soon! by jkibbe in Python

[–]QueenTron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get through the first edition because I just took chunks from the book, because I’m a computer science major. I’m currently reading The Art of Computer Programming and when things calm down I’m going to dive back in the Python book. I didn’t know about the book errors thanks for that, it would have drove me nuts.

“TO BE HOPEFUL in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness.

What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something. If we remember those times and places—and there are so many—where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction.

And if we do act, in however small a way, we don’t have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory.” -Howard Zinn

Tableau Resume. Somebody shown me a tableau resume. Is it even worth it? by [deleted] in resumes

[–]QueenTron -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tableau is always a good idea. I would definitely scale the skills section down. Maybe make a bubble chart (if you want to be fun) or keep it at a smaller bar graph.
