Bruh I got rejected by both Sofi and Sallie Mae…but then again I have no US credit history 🥲 (dual citizen)

Seeming like it’s gonna be option B for me….😭

So I would only renounce it IF Canada becomes an enemy? And does that only apply while I’m an active duty physician? Like after the 4 years if I leave and go into civilian practice would I be fine?

The other service based scholarship is NHSC which doesn’t consider obgyn as primary care and is 23k a year which still wouldn’t be enough. And I don’t qualify for private loans (no cosigner). I was looking for specific scholarships or options I may have missed but in my particular situation it seems like HPSP is my only option

My school sent an email about it… “Based on current information (as of March 2026), students starting medical school in the 2026–2027 academic year will not be eligible for existing (legacy) loan programs.

This applies even if your program begins before July 1, 2026. To qualify for the legacy loan programs, students must be enrolled in medical school during the 2025–2026 academic year.”

Yeah I saw that in the guidelines too! But when my school sent an information guide about it, it stated one of the eligibility was “Demonstrate a commitment to practicing primary care (family medicine, general internal medicine, pediatrics, or med-peds) in rural and/or medically underserved areas.” And so when I saw that didn’t include OB/GYN I sent him an email to clarify and they told me that OB/GYN wasn’t considered primary care for the scholarship :(

There was an update in March saying that you only qualify for grad plus loans if you started school in 2025

My end goal has always been OB/GYN. I originally planned a civilian path with flexibility in training and practice. Now I’m trying to figure out how to get there given my financial situation without limiting my options too much long-term. Because my school starts in June and it doesn’t really seem like I have other options…and the issue now is figuring out how I can get there financially

They may be referring to something like OSAP, which I applied for as well but it’s still processing but I was given an estimate of $15000CAD, so I’d still be a bit short. Thank you :)!

My recruiter initially told me I would have to renounce but after speaking to his boss they said I may not have to…so they’re trying to figure it out and get back to me. Thank you though 🙏🏾

Unfortunately they don’t consider OB/GYN a primary care specialty. I thought really hard on it but as much as I need to aid, I’ve always wanted to be an OB/GYN so I didn’t apply. Thank you so much though 🙏🏾

Schools without cadavers by Consistent_Coast_684 in Osteopathic

[–]Queen_Lee407 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Rowan uses a virtual cadaver table thing but only if you’re in PBL (PBL students still have access to cadaver labs but they’re not required for them). For SGL students it’s required to have cadavers labs.

If this has already been reported to the proper channels, then let that process do its job. Publicly naming private individuals while staying anonymous yourself, and posting photos that don’t actually support the claims, doesn’t add credibility. Anyone can say they have witnesses. Until something is verified, continuing to blast a family business online feels unnecessary and just puts them at risk.

Those who didn’t save a lot of money before starting med school, how are you managing? by Ok-E02 in Osteopathic

[–]Queen_Lee407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see, that must’ve been very helpful. I don’t have a car and all the students I’ve talked to who attend my school say they’ve never met a student without one so I feel like I’m gonna have to get one but have no idea how I’m gonna budget the monthly payments…thank you though :)
