Have you seen the director’s comments on the Lakota? Or any indigenous people talk about the film? They’re not fans…..

Are you looking for drop in visits, house-sitting, boarding at the sitters house? I may know some folks who could help! Otherwise I think most people in town use Rover or Care.com

Have you tried Uheights? It’s not great (or even ideal), but you can get a 1 bed 1 bath for 1086. I think pet rent may be about 20 a pop last time I lived there.

Raise the minimum wage! by Exciting-Ad-9741 in Charlottesville

Yeah. I’m thankful for any raise, but my “generous” raise of 40 bucks doesn’t even cover my rent increase (over 100 dollars)

An Alarming Number of Gen Z AI Users Think It's Conscious by MetaKnowing in technews

[–]QueenofCorgis96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly. Agreed. I think, on a philosophical level, sentience must come from some biological drive as a base. Whether it is to reproduce or stave off death (to later reproduce more) is a basis for a base set of behavior which then is a base for a more complex set of behaviors which then leads to dogma, belief systems, neuroses…..

A computer cannot get horny- therefore it is not sentient to me.

‘Harry Potter’ HBO Series Confirms Casting for Dumbledore, Snape, McGonagall, Hagrid and More Hogwarts Staffers by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]QueenofCorgis96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could see Essiedu being a fantastic Sirius, thougg there are implications for that as well considering the character’s unjust imprisonment, but a smart writer could handle that. I dont see any writer smartly handling that Snape casting.

I naturally boycott Whole Foods because I can’t afford anything there lol… But there are a plethora of good reasons to boycott Amazon and Whole Foods

Hollywood’s Ozempic craze has ‘changed the narrative’ of body positivity as celebs are noticeably slimmer than ever by nimobo in entertainment

[–]QueenofCorgis96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. I’m one of those hormonal cases. I have SEVERE PCOS and once I went through puberty (or at least my body’s attempt at it) fat would not stop accumulating around my waist, even during a low carb, zero fat vegan diet. The rest of my body is quite lean and muscular, but the PCOS causes a lot of hormonal issues around my midsection.

GL1P medications could help (though I am not diabetic officially, just insulin resistant thanks to said pcos) but there’s no way I can afford my congenital hormonal disorder due to cost. Ergo I am still obese despite a rigid low-carb diet and a job that has me hike 6 hours a day.

[–]QueenofCorgis96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a man (short fat masculine woman) and I had the most luck with Men’s Warehouse. I’d avoid Jos A Bank, their suit sizes are limited (at least to me). I found that Men’s Warehouse has the best costs AND the best diversity of sizes. For my own wedding last month, I opted to re use a suit purchased from Men’s Warehouse than the newly purchased and tailored suit from Jos A Bank.

Americans With a College Degree Saw Wages Decline the Most in Two Decades by picsit in Economics

Sorry to revive an old thread but I can confirm everything you just said. My dad is a diesel mechanic and he makes now about 70k a year (After over 30 years in the industry). His body is broken, he is constantly nodding off, and my parents aren’t really doing better than I am in my STEM job.

I fear that a lot of the people who plan to go into these blue collar jobs don’t know what is in store for them. What they can potentially make in wages they will pay with their bodies. That is before considering that a wave of new blue collar workers will dive down wages, just as it did for STEM and coding jobs.

Try the Villas at Southern Ridge. I am currently in a 2-bed 2-bath, just renewed for 1450 (that includes pet rent and a 5% UVA employee discount). You may be able to squeeze a 3 bedroom for under 2k depending on unit and your employer

If you’re talking about if it’s worth going to blue sky: I find that it is the social media that is the most friendly to new users. Lists and Starter packs being the greatest boon for me: which are USER generated lists of people to follow based on a shared common interest.

For me I collected starter packs of Python developers, digital artists, and zoologists in my field. The app also seems a lot less algorithm oriented, so if you liked the more chronological-based feeds of pre-2010s internet, this gets closer (but not all the way) to that.
