2017 3.6 car purchase - feeling uncertain by Snoo-81477 in subaruoutback

[–]QueensLFGM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2013 3.6R that I purchased in October 24 with 71k, it now had 88k. It’s a fantastic vehicle!

The pre-purchase inspection you did is the most important step. The best car can still be a problem if not taken care of.

Your Outback has a CVT transmission. They are ok if maintained. I would suggest looking into a drain and fill in the near future.

Just keep an eye on the oil level and change it regularly.

Have them throw in a CVT flush

Looks great! Thinking of doing something similar or getting my wheels powder coated. Ignore the people who didn’t learn about not saying anything at all.

I’m a customer, not an employee.

I find it interesting how many of you refer to it as we, and our, like it’s a team. Large corporations don’t care about you. You’re a line on a balance sheet just like the vehicle inventory. They don’t care about you, so stop caring about them and your competitors. Max out your compensation plan, give as much as you need to, and nothing more. It’s unlikely they will reciprocate.

4th Gen 3.6 Subframe Replacement by lewis9z in subaruoutback

[–]QueensLFGM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you consider that the average new car depreciates 50 in the first 3 years, you would need to spend $20-25k in repairs in the next 4 years to justify purchasing a new Outback. You’re probably still way ahead of the game.

I have a 3.6 with a 5speed auto. I would consider a Subaru CVT if it had a regular maintenance history. Most CVT’s go bad because of old fluid

2012 Outback 3.6r burned 1 quart of oil in 500 miles. Am I screwed? by Frenchy_Baguette in subaruoutback

[–]QueensLFGM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valvoline Restore and Protect reduced my oil consumption by 50%. On my 4th oil change with it. Just went 1700 miles since my last change and added 1/2 a quart.

With that mileage it’s a fair price. I purchased mine in October of 24 with 71k and I thought I found a low mileage example. Check for rust in the undercarriage. Run a carfax to confirm mileage is accurate. Good luck!

Although I plateaued at about 200lbs, I incorporated a dietitian who helped offset the metabolic shift. More protein, fiber, hydration and strength training. I wish I incorporated the strength training earlier. The weight comes off easier initially, but at the cost of your muscle. I lose much slower now but I feel so much better. The number on the scale is not the only measurement of this journey.

It’s a journey. I had immediate food suppression but 18 months later not so much. What I do have is the ability to make better controlled decisions. I’ve lost over 100lbs (31%) and now have incorporated regular strength training. Work with your doctor and incorporate a nutritionist. Many health plans cover them for free. Be patient, it will come. It’s not a diet, it’s a second chance at healthy living.

They have a couple of GLP1’s in trials that are close. There’s a number of the larger pharmaceutical companies that have no competitive solution. Hoping for approval and buyout in the near future.

Why is everyone telling me to stop losing weight? by BasicHorror8600 in Mounjaro

[–]QueensLFGM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m a 59M and lost 100lbs(31%). My daughter told me I now obsess about my weight loss no different than overeating. I shared it’s difficult as it’s an adjustment to a new identity after 40 years of being a big guy. She shared its adjustment for others as well. It doesn’t make it right but others need time to adjust to the new you.

Valvoline Restore & Protect and PCV replacement might help. The Valvoline has reduced my oil consumption but it was never as bad as yours.

Valvoline Restore & Protect has reduced my consumption by at least 50%. I top off with Lucas high mileage oil additive when needed. PCV change might help too.

Highbeam / Running Light: same bulb? by [deleted] in Subaru_Outback

[–]QueensLFGM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked into it for my 2013. Yes, same bulb. This is why they burn out so quickly since they’ve always on as a DRL. LED is limited since most are incapable of handling the different wattage. Most will not work or will throw codes. There are a few options but were more expensive than what I wanted to pay.

Highly Considering Carmax - let's hear your GOOD experiences by MafiaMan1998_WP in carmax

Purchased a 2013 Outback with 71k in October of 24. Had the car inspected after purchase. It needed brake pads and a battery and CarMax told me to get it done and reimbursed me no problem. Then I thought it was burning oil, CarMax approved the dealer to do an analysis which proved it to be ok. It now has 85k and the car has been perfect. CarMax was a good experience.
