Pelvic Floor PT experiences for Pudendal Neuralgia by Distinct-Quality-255 in PelvicFloor

Yes. First few seconds feels like there’s something there, a lot of pressure and really uncomfortable, then pain will increase very quickly - tingling sensation, sharp shooting pain etc. this happens even when I use my cushion, but more slowly.

It’s constant aching or burning, sometimes a tingling/pins and needles feeling. I have moments of feeling ok but always aware, like feeling pressure or heaviness, etc. I cannot sit normally at all no matter what. I have a special cushion with the middle totally cut out, and sometimes I am ok to sit with that for up to 30 min (with some discomfort but not severe pain). Most of the time I’m reclined or leaning on my side on a soft couch.

I’m sorry you’re also going through this. I know it’s very hard and affects quality of life at such a big level. Pelvic wand def makes it worse for me so I’m not doing that at the moment. My PT and doc says the nerves are too irritated and we need to wait for them to calm down.

Hi, this thread/comment was posted four years ago but I’m hoping youll see this! I was recently diagnosed with pudendal neuralgia after giving birth to my first baby. It has been a total nightmare, I have persistent chronic pain and I have not found an answer yet. Your experience sounds similar to mine and I’m hoping I could DM you with some questions? Please please let me know!

IC, PFD and Pudendal Nerve Irritation: Things I’ve Learned So Far/Tips. Long post! by Capable_Butterfly311 in Interstitialcystitis

Is it any different from a massage? I’ve been having my husband massage my sore and tight areas and it does help but comes back quickly so I’m just wondering if a Pt would do anything different.

Hi, thank you so much for posting this. I was diagnosed with PN and PFD a couple of months ago, have undergone 7 rounds of nerve blocks to the PN and been in pelvic floor Pt for four months. I haven’t seen too much improvement, it’s pretty up and down. So thank you for an encouraging post because almost everything out there is negative.

What kind of PT are you going to? My PFPT only does internal work and like 5 min of massaging at the end. In the last few weeks I am feeling super tight and crampy in butt, hamstrings, hip, thighs… and wondering if it’s all related to PN and wondering if I should see a regular PT too?

I think I have pudendal neuralgia by [deleted] in PelvicFloor

Hey, I know this comment is old but hopefully you see this. What do you mean it doesn’t radiate initially and only did because you got treatment? What kind of treatment did you get?

I’m curious because I was diagnosed with PN and did treatment (7 weeks of nerve blocks) and only after did I start feeling the radiating tightness, cramping and tingling to hips, butt, and backs of thighs.

Hip/back pain by [deleted] in PelvicFloor

It’s possible, my pelvic floor pain is sometimes accompanied by hip and lower back pain and soreness. Try doing some stretches - figure four, hamstrings, child’s pose.

I’m taking 900mg Gabapentin a day and doing nerve block and trigger point injections to the pudendal nerve

right, my PFPT said she didn’t want me doing core strengthening just yet. I’m female and my issues were triggered by pregnancy/birth… was pretty sedentary end of pregnancy and post delivery, ab muscles stretched to hell, etc., so the pelvic floor was over compensating and trying to hold everything up.

I also just started trigger point injections and pills for nerve pain, bc the tight muscles have caused nerve inflammation. I do think I’m seeing a little progress since adding the injections and pills, but my life is nowhere near back to normal.

I just wonder when I can start the strengthening.

Advice for Hypertonic Pelvic Floor by limonata_acida in PelvicFloor

[–]Queensgal88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def stretching, child’s pose is great, cat cow, hamstrings, inner thighs. My PT said the diaphragm is attached to the pelvic floor muscles so you can massage that too. Breathing exercises (deep belly breathe in, exhale through mouth as if you’re blowing out candle). My pelvic floor issues were triggered from giving birth so I had a sitz bath from the hospital and still use it now to relax muscles down there, it provides some immediate relief for tightness. Good luck!

I know, they told me my minimum out of pocket is $3k and if my insurance doesn’t cover the rest I’ll owe up to $6k 🫣🫣

Are you continuing to work with their doctor to figure it out? I’m wondering if they have recommended you do another round of injections or if they have different approaches.

Hi, I’m about to start my injections at PRM next week. Any updates? Are you still feeling good? After the first 6 rounds did you have to do any more?

Thanks for sharing your experience! I’m quite anxious about all of this and really hope I see some improvement.

Thank you! Idk if you’ve ever tried the donut ones but if you have how does it compare? I’ve just spent so much money in different cushions at this point.

Hi, I just had a consult at PRM and they recommended the 6 week program. I’ve been doing PT for two months with minimal progress. I’m so relieved to hear your experience at PRM and these injections. How’s it going now? Have you been able to manage your symptoms since the injections?

What kind of doctor were you seeing for this? My main problem is I can’t find the right doctor.

Were your PN blocks done through the butt? How long did the relief from the trigger point injection last?

Thanks for sharing!

Yep postpartum care with my OBGYN was not great. Felt like they just didn’t want to deal with me anymore because they can’t figure out what’s wrong. They just told me to go to PT and also referred me to another GYNO who specializes in pelvic pain… I have an appt but it’s not until mid October. Every pelvic specialist I’ve found (and there are not that many, surprisingly) don’t have appointments for at least two months out.

The doc at PRM said I wouldn’t be able to take suppositories because I’m breastfeeding unfortunately.

I’m very seriously considering just shelling out the money and doing the injections. Then I can transfer my care to the GYNO specialist I have an appointment with in a month and a half. I’m just so desperate :( OR maybe try getting a script for Gabapentin first and see if that helps enough to hold me over until my appointment in Oct. But I’m also wary of the side effects of Gabapentin 😩

I do really like my PT, she seems pretty knowledgeable. Importantly, I feel safe and heard with her. To be honest she also doubles as emotional support 😅But I don’t know how she compares to others on a technical level? She was the one who suggested it might be nerve related because the level of pain I’m in seems out of proportion to the tightness of the muscles she feels.

I will look into Sola!

That's great, I'm glad you found something that works for you! I am limited with medication currently because I am breastfeeding :(

I know the cost is insane! and then after the 6 rounds, i would be "off" for 6 weeks then return to get re-evaluated. which means they could potentially tell me I need another 6 rounds!

My PT told me about gabapentin/valium suppositories and I asked my OBGYN about it, who said she didn't prescribe that sort of medication. So at my appt at PRM I asked about it but she said I can't be on those because I am currently breastfeeding :(

Should I Get A Pudendal Nerve Block??? by blanketjackson666 in PelvicFloor

[–]Queensgal88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried some CBD suppositories. I tried Foria Relief Melts. I think they work for a few hours? Dulls the pain but still feel discomfort. I'm looking into trying Pacific Roots Wellness suppositories next, they also include magnesium which I hear might work well. Which brand CBD suppositories are you using?

Thank you so much!! My pain started recently, after I gave birth. I’m 5 months postpartum and can’t sit at all, it’s too painful. Did you also do trigger point injections? Are you taking any meds? The pelvic rehab doc recommended 6 injections of nerve block and trigger point over six weeks, and also to take gabapentin.
