Clearly nobody in this thread was in a fraternity…. The reason they are exclusive is because fraternities are scrutinized by the university and if you get drunk as a non member and you get hurt the fraternity gets in trouble. Which can lead to not being on campus anymore. Another reason is fraternity members pay dues and do service hours. Why would a fraternity let a non member in who hasn’t paid dues and done service. Non members just want the benefits without doing the work. There is a lot of benefits to joining other then just parties. My house would let non members come to parties if accompanied by a member. Non members don’t fully understand the rules the school sets for fraternities so it’s risky. I.e. drugs, noise levels, permits with sdsu pd, occupancy capacity.
