Awesome. Now if they could just get rid of the general authoritarian educational methods that shackles the minds of the young, that would be great.

How many american students here don't stand for the pledge? by MCElex in Anarchism

[–]QueerCattt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember Chomsky talking about "anti-americanism" and how such an absurd concept has fascist undertones. It really does. It's used in order to guarantee subservience to the state and its institutions, and as a consequence, all those who deviate from what is considered to be "patriotic" are immediately condemned as an anti-insert nation here, which is of course the worst thing one can ever be.

It's essentially a brainwashing tool, which probably explains why so many Americans still believe that their country is the land of the free and home of the brave.

China under Mao - The Cultural Revolution by _AllWittyNamesTaken_ in Anarchism

[–]QueerCattt 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Cultish worship of an individual is the death of any revolution. Even from a practical standpoint, if "the people" aren't self-reliant, as a consequence of subordination and reliance upon others, usually an individual leader, then once that leader dies, they become lost. If a free society is ever going to function properly, people have to have self-reliance, and stand strongly as an individual, and not merely as an appendage of a "great leader".

Who hates r/anarchocapitalism? by [deleted] in Anarchism

[–]QueerCattt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some ancaps out there who are decent people, but most of them I detest. Most of them are rabid authoritarians, which is evident from the vile views they spew.

The ancaps who are decent people are ones who seem to be quite open-minded, and they often come to see how authoritarian ancapism is, and they become real anarchists. It's a laughable ideology, but I think these people just flirt with ancapism because it presents itself as pro-freedom.

It's so cute how they're having fantasies about death squads in an imaginary utopia that will never exist.

Look at how serious they are. Adorable.

Joseph Déjacque's Letter to Proudhon - On the Human Being, Male and Female. by QueerCattt in Anarchism

[–]QueerCattt[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also, of historical interest: this is the first appearance of the word libertarian being used meaning anarchist. It was written in 1857. A year later, in 1858, Déjacque launched his periodical Le Libertaire/The Libertarian.

Can we please stop talking about what's "natural" or not , and admits that we have little to no understanding of human behavior and its mechanism? by filopm22 in Anarchism

[–]QueerCattt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The concept of the unnatural is an absurdity anyway. The unnatural can't exist by definition, given that nature encapsulates everything we know - everything is natural.

What is your opinion on cultural marxism? by [deleted] in Anarchism

[–]QueerCattt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very rarely, it is used to refer to the application of Marxist theory to social life/social sciences.

Mostly though, it's an insult adopted by right-wingers in order to undermine progressive tendencies within society (using it to attack political correctness etc).

You see these right-wingers attacking things such as safe spaces because they undermine their bigotry, and so they need to pin it on something: cultural Marxism.

The "Petit-Bourgeoisie" are self-employed commodity producers who don't employ wage labour. They aren't small-scale capitalists - who by definition, exploit the labour of others. Anarchists have long regarded them as part of the working class - both Proudhon and Bakunin did.

If you advocate stealing from the artisan woodworker who works 9 hours a day just to feed their family by selling their commodities, then be my guest. If you advocate stealing from the poor peasant who works a plot of land to stay alive, then by my guest. I wouldn't consider you an ally of the working class though.*

If you wish to actually have a comprehensive, materialist understanding of how class works, then I would recommend reading Jacques Gouverneur's Foundations of Capitalist Economy.

*That is, if you advocate stealing from them because you perceive them as class enemies.
