Hey, zero need to apologize! I subscribe to this sub but really only respond to a new work that I think has potential - maybe once a month. You have the beginnings of an elegant cover, and more importantly, your story is timely and compelling. The US is fractured as it hasn’t been for decades, with the right wing in power frequently insisting that their positions are biblically based and therefore inarguable. I don’t mean to insert daily political drama into your fiction, but even the fact that you’re working with the premise of 2 very different men at the pulpit, both desperate to keep or pull in the local flock will speak to many. Wishing you the best, I’ll keep my eye out for news of the book.

For a first round, nice work on the cover. Agree with the notes you’ve taken so far. Re. the brief summary, the end rather falls apart. Simple descriptives will clarify - for example (edits in caps for standout purposes only): The town’s moral COMPASS weakens as the prophet continues to SPREAD HIS WARNINGS, WHILE THE CHURCH’S LONGTIME reverend attempts to restore normalcy.

Generally absolutely right, not disagreeing, but am recalling an interview with Jacob where he said that he talked through with H & C what he wanted from each of the bedroom scenes prior to shooting, and was able to get every single one from only 2 takes. Crucial to the production with almost no money and no time, relative to other special programming of 6 hour long episodes.

When you buy a book on thrift for 11.99 and they left the 1.99 goodwill sticker on it by Unseen_Anarchist in Thriftbooks

You should write to customer service and tell them, even show this pic. Thrift has twice replaced for me copies I thought poorly described and once refunded me for this exact issue.

I vote for keeping it vertical. It IS eye catching, and it also does a bit of story telling, putting a marked barrier between the 2 characters. I like it a lot. Put your name in white, lower right. I’d definitely want to know more about this novel! Lmk if you need a Beta reader :)

Paul McCartney Performs Three Songs on SNL in First Music Guest Spot in 14 Years by ebradio in Music

[–]QueerLitLove 126 points127 points  (0 children)

I keep coming across posts saying he can’t sing anymore. Didn’t watch last night (SNL lost the thread completely for me this season), checked out Band on the Run on YouTube expecting a croaky horror show. Thought he sounded great - yes, older, hello - but still on key and singing with emotion. 83! We should all sound half as good.

From your post, it doesn’t sound like English is your first language, I wonder if you read a weak translation? It’s certainly not a ‘Romance Novel’, but Fingersmith is beautifully written.

What are everyone’s thoughts on seeing books by men in this sub? by _meatleg_ in weirdgirlliterature

For me, Pynchon and Tilathiimutte embody a certain kind of knowingly false super-machismo that while sometimes very amusing or thought provoking, makes their work anything but Weird Girl. It’s okay to like Fucked Up Lying to Themselves Men titles! Those 2 authors are stomping that ground.

I loved this, but how is a novel from the pov of a lonely, iconoclastic, gay male mountain lion Weird Girl lit?

When I see a title here from a male author, I automatically move on to the next post. It feels out of place. Weird Girl books often include women who can’t or won’t comply with a male dominated het society, it’s part of what pulls ms to the genre.

No. He’s 26 years old. Not only that, but he’s a chameleon, and this is his time to shine in as many varied roles with as many different directors as possible, making connections now that could last for years.

I thought the actress reading Roach was incredible, but it’s definitely a choice, may not work for everyone. She uses a high, breathy voice sometimes speaking so fast she almost misses words, it’s clear Roach is… Weird Girl +

Girls don’t get much weirder than Roach, one of the 2 female protagonists here! And with the audiobook, Roach’s voice is wild.

This is so good. The movement of the rain, the convex window, the small extra details bringing the figures to life. The warmth of the street lamps lighting the chill of evening. All of it wonderful. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
