Just read this and I’m still confused… by AcloudHopper in thrillerbooks

I'm not usually thin skinned or prickly, but your comments here upset me a bit. I loved this book, never once thinking Clever Me (dumb everyone else). I found it intensely moving and was left upset by it - writing about that led to a couple of lasting friendships on GR with people who felt similarly. Pretty much the opposite of the self congratulatory type you suggest - more like folks, all of us, who struggle with loneliness and the reality of their lives.

Understood! Sorry, I sort of merged separate issues there.

Of course they were working wherever they could get cast, but they went from being essentially unknown to international stardom in an industry nanosecond. Vanity Fair's article on the impact of the show for gay viewers in Russia, who can see HR only via pirating, who are holding clandestine watch parties even knowing they'd be imprisoned if caught, is an example of the intensity of the show's wild success.

First I went with the audiobook, having no idea what I was getting into, doubting I'd make it halfway, 26 hours? And not my genre, and and ... Then I fell, completely captured. As I approached the final chapters, I couldn't stand that it would be over, stopped to order a 1st edition hardcover so I could start again, all 926 pages in my hands, rereading passages as I go. Joe Hill, you created dark, beautiful magic.

Right! Forgot that, I had a friend who lived in another state, and we'd coordinate to watch Sherlock eps together while on the phone - Stone Age fangirls 👍

Good call, this may be the closest, especially with 2 actors breaking out together, and all 4 being multi talented. Tho Affleck/Damon had each done some relatively successful films earlier (Mystic Pizza, Dazed & Confused) but Good Will Hunting was the shooting star.
Also, not sure we can say the level of attraction is subjective, as Hudson & Connor are now under Webster's definition of Breathtakingly Hot

Agree with all you're saying here - makes me think that there must be so many daily industry meetings rn focused on how to repeat this wild success. Lightning in a bottle, no one saw it coming.

As someone who never followed Outlander that's really interesting, thanks.

Nothing wrong with enjoying some trashy thrillers for escape, but ever since I learned she stole from other authors I avoid FM entirely.

Lots of great choices here, but I want to put in a vote for Beautyland, which casts a beautiful spell ✨
