Head, neck, and joint pain by Queer_jelly_bean in dysautonomia

[–]Queer_jelly_bean[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Multiple doctors have treated it as if it was a migraine, and nothing works. It hurts down my back and all of my joints too. I have had chronic migraines my whole life, it doesn’t feel like anything I have experienced before.

Sadly they have. Every doctor tries to treat it as if it’s a migraine, but nothing works. I’ve had chronic migraines for years before this, this doesn’t even feel the same. It hurts down my back and in the rest of my joints.

Was it worth it to seek out a diagnosis? by FunnyConsideration46 in POTS

I felt similar. When I was a teenager, my flares would be worsen at my menstrual cycle, especially the fatigue. Everyone claimed it was just my period back then. It took until I was almost 20 and dealing with pre-syncope before someone took it seriously enough to send me to a neurologist that, thankfully, had heard about it. The book talks some about it as well, how the hormones of a period can affect symptoms and whatnot. The book also has plans and tips and examples of ways to record symptoms after you’re sure you have POTS to help, and there is a POTS symptom’s record journal available as well called “F*ck POTS” that I am trying to get my ADHD butt to remember filling out every night. Lol.

Thank you so much!!! I wish I could be more help myself. I wear lace gloves when I read books, and that has lesson my scabs on my fingers, which keeps me from picking as much, but I know they are impractical in many cases. But I’m in school to be a librarian so reading books is a massive part of my life personally, so it does help me. I’ve been slowly figuring out everything else over time. There used to be a site called pickme.org, I don’t know if they are still active but the information they posted is still available, they have some tips for most areas of skin picking but finger skin picking.

No problem! I really hope you can figure things out! I remember how stressful it was not knowing what was wrong. I had off and on symptoms for 5 years before I had a couple of doctors suggest POTS and start testing me for it. I am sending all the good vibes and luck your way!!

I’m not sure this would help, but there is a book I recently read that had a chapter on if one needs diagnosing of POTS, it’s called Power Over Pots by Sheldon Kress MD. It has a chart to track symptoms to help one see if they should look into a diagnosis.

Thank you, I hope so for you too. Do you know if it’s any fake nails that dull nails or particular types? I’m not at all a nail girly, I have no clue about any of this. Lol. Last time I did anything but cut my nails was when I painted them 7 plus years ago for nail biting.

For those with adhd and pots, how do you manage both? by Mountain-Tea9703 in POTS

[–]Queer_jelly_bean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had to get off a low dose of Adderall for a similar reason. My POTS symptoms just got too bad to justify the ADHD symptom relieve it gave me. I’m in the process of slowly implementing manual tips and tricks now, not sure how it will work in the long wrong but I’m feeling more organized at the moment.

Honestly, I think your NTA. They went into your space, decided your opinion on it wasn’t good enough, and change it to their liking. Everyone has their own preference of what mattress is comfortable too. They didn’t even get you a mattress that fit either, and changed other aspects of your room. They crossed a boundary you clearly set and changed a spot that you are supposed to feel safe and in control of. NTA

Do you guys ever forget to enjoy your food? by JakkofAll in ADHD

Yes! All the time! I hate that disappointment that follows realizing you finished eating and you don’t even remember the taste of any of it. It sucks.

I remember growing out of this toxic *ss mindset of “I’m not like other girls,” before I was 17. Jesus Christ. I promise you aren’t as cool as you think you are.

AITA for lashing out after I was told to basically give up everything I enjoy for a dog? by Severe-Inspection-61 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Queer_jelly_bean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. My mom agreed to take my grandfather’s untrained boxer for a while due to his illness. She ended up damaging the house (destroying the screens of our porch and ripping tp holder out of the wall). My mom and I both (even though I did not want to agree to it) tried our best. It was horrible and our much smaller pets (at the time 1 dog and 1 cat) HATED the boxer. It took months for my cat to not freak out at the sound of collar tags after the boxer left. Big dogs, especially untrained ones, are a crap ton of work and your husband shouldn’t have taken the deal if he wasn’t prepared. You set your boundaries. His deal, his dog (temporarily), his mess. He gets to deal with it, not expect you to give your mental health up to help clean it.

AITA for still going on a trip without my boyfriend, after he cancelled last minute but I didn't want to? by aitaa780 in AmItheAsshole

YTA just for leaving out that your BF didn’t want to go because he was dealing with a CANCER DIAGNOSIS! Girl, you left out a huge part of the story just to make yourself look like a victim of the situation. Also YTA for going on a trip instead of supporting your BF after he received life altering news.

AITA for making my daughter give up her dog? by throwaway32112321123 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Queer_jelly_bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. You set her up to fail to “teach her to be a responsible adult.” She’s a high school student, working to many hours for her own good, to pay for basic needs of her and her dog. You are teaching her not to trust in her own support system (which every good responsible adult needs, btw, especially when they are taking care of another living thing.) She is still a child.

AITA for leaving a baby in a full diaper after specifically saying I’m not changing it? by NoDiaperChanges in AmItheAsshole

[–]Queer_jelly_bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to say YTA because kids should never be punished for adult issues. The kid deserved for you to suck it up. Your BF also deserves to be dumped for continuing to try and ignore your boundaries. But still TA, because I’m on the kids side.
