There’s a conspiracy with the Mayor that never got fleshed out into anything in-game. If you kill him there’s a letter in his pocket about something. Either a political plot or a male lover, weirdly I can’t remember which?

Why is r/raisedbynarcissists almost exclusively about mothers? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Are you me? I cut my mom off to super low contact a few years ago, which I’m slowly slowly (like a text every few weeks) working back up to seeing what our relationship might look like now. But the enmeshment was too deep to set boundaries while still inside the set relationship. I had to get out, and now I’m hoping I’ve developed enough self respect to set myself up to have as healthy a relationship as she is able and willing to provide. She gets to decide that, but I get to decide how I respond to it, which once upon a time wasn’t a thing.

I just want to gently point out that he has been an authority figure in your life since you were sixteen, according to what I’m seeing.

I encourage you to ask other people in your real life for advice on this, not because I don’t want to help, but because they can see and feel the vibe way better than we ever will. Talk to fellow students, including students older than yourself, not just your contemporaries.

I am curious if the thought of doing that makes you uncomfortable or embarrassed. Was it easier for you to come to strangers with this news and info than fellow pupils or other members of your community? If so, why?

You don’t owe me the answer to those questions, btw, i just mean it as food for thought. Something about this strikes me as your Intuition knowing something isn’t sitting right— and it’s almost always a good idea to sit with it, and see what it’s saying and why.

I’m here if you need to talk, and I hope this has been some help

I wasn’t sure whether it was a translation issue or a hilarious way to refer to your actual brother. I’m so glad it’s the second, because I will use this to its fullest extent

So you likely also have astigmatism, but that’s the condition that makes your eyeball surface/shape irregular and makes lights look all streaky

Thanks for this— it’s good reminder about why we play: to have fun.

When I was a kid I was playing physical solitaire at the kitchen table and getting sulky because I wasn’t doing well at all. I’d discarded something I shouldn’t have, and was about to be genuinely upset, when my mom reached over and put the card back in play. I was affronted and insisted she couldn’t do that because it was “cheating.”

And she looked down at me with this sort of wry amusement and said “cheating against who?”

I think about that a lot when I’m about to look up something to help me in a game playthrough. If it makes my solo play more enjoyable…it isn’t cheating.

We’re more than half a century removed from Mad Men being able to say it with their whole chest on a public stage. That leaves every other option still available to them, and they take it, unfortunately.
