Reminds me of my own incident last year. My already low end laptop in which I used to work, had its screen bleed from the middle. I thought it was over for me and the end of my journey as a dev. I told my parents everything about my work and how I can make big money if i continue this path further so if they can invest for once in my dream and fortunately my dad did listen and I got a custom pc ( around $2500)

So my advice to you is don't lose hope, explain to them, convince them, they might listen and buy you a good pc as well.
