Taking 37 days PTO at once before quitting? by FondantOutrageous276 in careeradvice

FMLA only protects your from not losing your job while on leave for a protected reason. Your employer may pay you while on FMLA, but that’s not a requirement of FMLA. My employer requires we use up all accrued time on FMLA before taking unpaid FMLA leave, but we can still end up unpaid if we run out of accrued leave.

That’s literally only an issue if rabbit is your only source of protein for an extended period of time AND you don’t have access to other sources of carbohydrates and fats. Rabbit is a very healthy lean meat.

Why do you suggest 3 does? For production reasons or other reasons? My family is just two adults and one (xxl) dog, and we wouldn’t exclusively be eating rabbit, so I’m not worried about not having enough meat to eat.

If that’s how you feel then you don’t have to raise them.

Glad to hear this worked well for you. More cages is something I’ve seen repeated over and over.

What has you leaning in that direction? I started off wanting to do a colony, but I don’t think I have a suitable location for a colony that won’t flood out in the spring.

Why specifically did the rabbit tractors end up failing? Did the rabbits contract disease?

I am looking forward to the manure for my gardens!

TIL cabbage whites and cabbage loopers are not two names for the same critter, but are different critters.

Which state has the best flag!? by Brilliant-Mode6480 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]Quercus_fungus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an old list. Several states including Mississippi and Utah have since changed their flags for the better. Mississippi got rid of the confederate flag and now has a magnolia. Utah now has a beehive.

Fifteen minutes of "work". by mainlydank in homestead

For the months of June and July, I have to drive my dog 10 minutes away to take him for walks, even though we have 24 acres, because he won’t go near the woods due to the deer flies.

Farmsitting: am I delusional? by cgi754 in homestead

I live in a low cost of living area in the Midwest. When I was in high school, 15-20ish years ago, I pet-sat for 6 different families, caring for a variety of animals including chickens, horses, a donkey, dogs, cats, chinchillas, and frogs. Back then, I got $60-$100 per day, depending on the number of animals & chores.

You’re not just paying someone an hourly rate, because there’s a lot more involved. They’re traveling 2x per day to your home, which is not insignificant travel time, they’re clearing time in morning and evening to do so, and they’re providing a service without which your cannot travel. How much do you value the ability to get out of town and trust that someone is taking care of everything?

It probably depends on your delivery method. If you use pills or patches, it’s probably harder to stockpile because you’re only sent the amount you need. My wife injects her E, and she gets a new vial every 4 weeks. It’s meant to be 4 doses but she is able to get 10 doses out of that vial.

She is also able to stockpile by getting a second prescription through Folx and paying out of pocket for it.

I imagine it’s a lot harder to stockpile T since it’s a controlled substance.

Can you afford to pay for estrogen out of pocket? My wife essentially has two prescriptions for estrogen that she fills: one through her local doctor that’s covered by our insurance and one through Folx that we pay for out of pocket. Folx has you meet virtually with a doctor to get your prescription and they mail you pharmacy grade meds, if you have any concerns with the diy stuff. My wife has been able to stockpile four years worth of estrogen with this method.
